Glad everything went according to plan and she's home safe and sound :) Fingers crossed the insurance will pay up and soften the blow!

Glad it went well but we always worry when they're at the vet   I remember Jaffa being starving when he got home from the vets after a dental several years ago.

Yes, just got her home half an hour ago. she's uber affectionate (probably still feeling the anaesthetic!) and hungry - she woolfed down a small plate of chicken - plus her sister's dinner before I could get it away from her!

Her blood tests were fine, which is good to know. Also, she's missing a couple of teeth (apart from the one they took out today) so she's been through this before at some time.

I'm so relieved she's doing so well!

I'm trying not to think about the £305 I just spent!

Yes I think things have changed a lot in last 12 years and she should be ready soon to come home

Took her in this morning and she was super well behaved!

The vet examined her, took her temperature and weighed her again and everything was fine. Then he went into extreme detail about everything on the consent form - I was quite impressed, usually I just leave the cat with the receptionist, sign the form and leave, so things must have changed in the last 12 years, or this practice is really good. It's made me feel a lot calmer about it all anyway.

She's also going to have a blood test prior to the treatment, to ensure there are no underlying conditions which may cause problems when she has the anaesthetic (of course, this costs extra but given her age I thought it was a good idea).

So just waiting for the phone call now, which should be around 2pm.

Thank you, Rosella!

We're an hour into the 12-hour fast and I already feel guilty!

Someone please tell me I'm stupid and to snap out of it!

"You're stupid and snap out of it!"

Doesn't work does it?  ;)

Be prepared for her being very wonky on her feet and a bit mad eyed when she gets home.  Noni had a dental last Wednesday with a pre molar removed.  Worried me to death for about 24 hours both before and after............. for no reason at all.  She'll be fine I'm sure ............ deep breaths and try and occupy yourself with ............  stuff

Yes, I remembered the thing about cats not recognising one that's been at the vets. I'll keep an eye on Drum, she can be a bit funny with her sister!

Yikes about Jones, I would have been  :hairrasin: :hairrasin: :hairrasin:

Just to add, it's likely that Drum may hiss at Bass when she gets back as she smells 'funny' to her. Lu - the gentlest, kindest, most loving and friendly little boy hissed at Riley for a few days when Riley got home after a day in the vets

Jiji - I get all misty eyed when I see people coming out with an empty carrier, wondering what has happened , I'm worse than the owners themselves!  :-[

I could do, but coming from the person who cried in the vets surgery when I took Algie in for his op I'm not sure it would convince you  So will send lots of good wishes for Bass and some    for you instead.

Thank you both.

I know it's normal to worry but I also know I'll be stupidly anxious!

You're right TM, I haven't noticed anything wrong with her - she occasionally drools but only when she's being brushed cos she loves it. The bad tooth certainly hasn't stopped her eating!

My last cat Jones had some dental work done, and when I went to collect him they gave me the wrong cat! It sounds funny now but at the time I was frantic. The nurse said something like, "I just need to get the vet" and left me waiting for what was only a few minutes but I virtually had a full blown panic attack, thinking they'd put the wrong cat to sleep or something!

Not stupid at all  It's perfectly natural to worry, that doesn't mean there's necessarily anything to worry about though!

Bass is in otherwise good health and it's a relatively minor procedure with a short anaesthetic time so she'll be home before you know it. I bet you notice a massive difference in her even though you didn't necessarily notice anything wrong before

When my Tiggy had a tooth out (after me convincing myself she was going to die because she suddenly started drooling!) the change in her when she got back was remarkable, she must have been suffering with a sore mouth but because it came on gradually I didn't really notice but it gave her a new lease of life having it removed, think she was about 14 at the time.

Will be thinking of you and Bass tomorrow, please do let us know when she's home safe and sound  :)

My lovely 12-year old black ninja is having a tooth out tomorrow and even though it's only a minor op, I know I'm going to be beside myself with worry till she's back home. I'm sure she'll be calm, once she's out of the car anyway, but I've never had to leave her there before so I'm worried that'll she'll be frightened.

Someone please tell me I'm stupid and to snap out of it!
