Her name was mushroom. Aged 16ish. Not full persian, but had the Persia docility, so chilled out and laid back. Quite shy with other cats but she and pumpkin recognized each other as Persians and used to touch noses.  Very sweet.

I have just lost my little tortoiseshell this week.  I am devastated and my other, Pumpkin the black boy, is equally sad.  But Persians are the best.

Mr Fluffy is the cat "i thought i bought" :wow:....what he turned into was Mr fluffy crossed with an unknown entity..turning into Mr Miyagi :scared:
I do love Miyagi though...hes my secret (not so secret :shify:) cat. hes very daft for a cat  :evillaugh:
Pacey a purs baby is a chinchilla persian and hes really cuddly but detests the other two cats..totally. hes very much a peoples cat.
Mo mo my briefly loved red point persian was bought at age 4 from a woman who "didnt have the time she needed" sadly it was a case of mo mo was dying of pkd and although i tried my hardest to get her to pull through i only ever had her love for a few months before i had to decide pts was the kindest option :-[ she was a gentle soul though so i dont regret the time we had together. Pacey does have some similar quirks to mo mo, oddly when pacey arrived her and pacey took to each other immediately, she had never been bothered about the other two
that kind of made me think persians do know their own breed, poor miyagi dont know what he is i dont think :evillaugh:

Hope I don't offend you Suzanne, but I didn't realise Mosi was a pedigree - just thought he was a good looking cat!

 ;D

On the outside he's a posh and pampered fluffpot, but he secretly aspires to be the tom next door who spends his days hunting, shooting and fishing  ;)

I'm another persian fan [had 14 in the past] lost my last one a few weeks ago.     Time will tell whether we will get another.  I don't think we will though.     Many of mine were rescues as well

Val I didn't realise Mr Fluffy was a persian I'd assumed he was a NFC!  Lovely photos of him and Gillian's persian pride

I'd love a sorrel somali at some point to join my NFCs and mog!

I must admit, before I became a member on here I wasn't a fan of Persians, but have come to realise it doesn't matter what the cat looks like, its the personality and it fitting in within your household that matters...

And Mr fluffy is absolutely gorgeous!

I was never that fond of Persians until I got to "know" Gillian's!  They are so full of character and cute and snuggly too.

I'm also in love with Ragdoll's and Maine Coons both of which I've had before!

well, if you're looking into semi longhaired breeds, I'd have to throw in a good word for Somalis  ;) (My Mosi is a somali).

Oh don't think I've ever met a Somali cat *swoon*

The dangers of a long hair cat - rofl!

The kitten in my friends did that the other night - she was mortified then realised it was cat crazy me so I was on my hands & knees scrubbing the carpet with her :-)

Oh gosh aren't they cute all snuggled up together?!

Just remembered one funny incident with our old lady persians.  No toileting problems in general but I do remember Rosie getting a turd stuck in her long hairy
bloomers and i saw her pulling herself along on the carpet to try to get it off.  It was really funny.  She had the last laugh though as I had to not only extricate the
turd from her knickers with a pair of scissors but also had to clear the long brown line of poo from our light cream carpet!

A tip for persian owners, give them a bit of a dagging round the nether regions every now and again to stop the above from happening.

My friend is trying to convince me but in staying strong and checking all options - I'm also in love with Ragdoll's and Maine Coons both of which I've had before! Once you are struck by the persian bug, there is no escape  :evillaugh:

I have 6 at the mo, but up till a few years ago, had 13, some rescues, some I've had since kittens. Never had any toileting problems. Health problems, lost my dear Suzie and Jasper to PKD  :( but if you go for a kitten, most (reputable) breeders will be PKD free. I've lost one to HCM, but again, good breeders screen. Snuffles, yes, some suffer, depending on how typey they are, but that doesnt always follow, as my Sam was very typey (flat face, highish nose) and didnt snuffle. Mine tend to snuggle up together, always have  :) Here's some of them the other day -

Joe and Ben enjoying the sun together (Joe's 14 nearly 15, Ben's coming up 14)

My newest girlie  ;) Ebony, 2 yrs old, been with me since Feb this year

Thanks Dawn.
For some reason she is fine again .
I bought a dog  crate to put her in and she hated in .i only had the heart to put her in it 2 nights .
Anyway, she has been fine for a couple of weeks now .

Maybe it's stress related in some way ?!

Mr Fuzzy is just gorgeous , wow ! :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:

My Sophie never had any health problems and lived to almost 18 . Winston the same and he is over 14.
Cody and Smudgie seem ok ,they are only one .

Pandora is sniffly as she has a very small nose.

FIFO has cystitis problems but that is nothing to do with being a Persian.

Smartie was almost 15 when I lost him , he had heart problems but died of nasal cancer.

Bungly was fine but died of liver cancer .

Mr fuzzy said thank you  :)  He is beautiful isn't he  :Luv:  Despite his hatred of moo he's a wonderful boy  :Luv:  He sleeps with me in bed at night  :Luv:  I love him soooooooooo much  :Luv2:  :Luv2:  :Luv2:

Thank you  :Luv:  mr fuzzy is beautiful isn't he  :Luv:

He is also the cause of me having to rehome beautiful moo moo , he is a beast  >:(  however , he was found as an entire male so i dare say that may be due to him being neutered late in life (between 2-3 years approx)

He loves his kitten friends though !  :-:  even though they are now HUGE !  :naughty: He plays with them and when the kittens were younger, was always curled up with them !  :Luv:

I've never had any toileting issues with the fuzz bomb , his poos are always perfectly formed and firm  :naughty:  Thank goodness !!  :naughty:  He's never toileted in the house either .

We had a couple of female Persians. They lived to 18 and 19 years old and were not bothered by health problems any more than other cats although I think they may be prone to
kidney disease.

Rosie had a teeny nose and sometimes suffered with snuffles but nothing major. Holly got kidney disease but not until she was 16.

They got on ok, never fought, sometimes cuddled. They got on ok with our other cats as well, although later in her life Rosie became a very feisty old bat and didn't take
any prisoners, she ruled the roost!

Persians are gorgeous, high maintenance in terms of grooming and eye cleaning but i loved our two, they were such characters, cute and affectionate and funny.

I can understand why you were smitten.

Ok experienced Persian people - just a question as I've now got two friends with very different views. My friend (with new kitten) who has had 10 Persians in total throughout her adult life who loves them and thinks one would be an ideal match for my timid (but playful) Siberian who is v small for a Siberian.

However another friend with three feels they health problems are too much and she has had lots of toileting problems!

Also do they bond well with other cats? I've never saw any of my friends Persians snuggled up together but any other breeds or moggies I do!

Oh I've been looking - I'm currently on the lookout for a second cat lol!

I've been checking out Rushden etc but they are all quite far away as I'm in Scotland.

I just couldn't believe how cute a Persian kitten is and I normally turn my nose up at kittens lol!

So tonight I visited my lovely friend Lisa who has a Persian brood. Well she has got a new kitten and *swoon* I'm In love!!!

How can a kitten be that cute???

Don't get me wrong I'm a Rescue girl - all cats I've had I've rehomed and I've never had a kitten straight from a breeder or whatever!!! But OMG how tempting!!!

*sigh*

Just gorgeous!!!

I now understand why do many of you are Persian slaves :-)
