Ah Valerie don't worry I know Moo Moo is still available - you will see earlier in this feed Tiggy's mum and I were exchanging chat about Moo Moo being snapped up and me missing out.

However now I've got a potential in this big white fluff ball up here. I'm on hols just now and not back until the weekend when I will find out with his current meowy what's happening. The plan is for me to take him but I was also hoping someone would offer to take both her cats - although she says they aren't close and saw I was cat loopy and wanted me to take him.

What's meant to be will be so who knows whats going to happen. Just feel so sorry for Moo Moo having the three boys dislike her so and now being let down!! *hugs*

Wow Liz you have some bruisers in your clan! They sound delightful!

My MC was very small and my vet was always saying all the MC's he sees are small! I can't wait to see his face when I take this boy for his check up!

Anyway I'm trying not to get too carried away. He isn't fully mine yet and it's only a verbal agreement lol!

This will be the first cat I haven't taken via a Rescue if I get him which wasn't at all my intention! However he needs a new home too and someone who can take care of that coat of his!

I'll update when and if it happens lol *fingers crossed*  :-)

MC's are gorgeous we have a half MC in our darling Jester, we also have a huge NFC - Master Svartleheim Starlinght Express or big Starrykins he is 9kgs in his summer coat and not been cold enough for a full winter coat and Master Casper Ragdoll is 8kgs and some of my other boys weigh 7kgs+ and my girls the light weight versions put these big boys in their place much to their surprise

Can't wait for piccies and a full report ;D

Hi Gill,

No the boy isn't fully grown and is already enormous. However having talked to a few cat daft friends today the consensus is the boy. I also saw a cream boy MC at a rescue I went to on Tuesday but he couldn't live with other cats. It started the MC thing ( my boy Oscar was a rescue MC too) and it seems fate as the boy is so like the one in rescue.

He isn't too big on the body as he is shaved right down - she couldn't manage his coat. It's his head and paws that are HUGE! I have a huge carrier and found some huge litter trays on zoo plus.

I'm going to get in touch with her to confirm the boy. I think the boy/girl combo is better and my friend who has a rescue Raggie pointed out how timid some cats are in a noisy household but come into their own in a quiet cat only home.

Oh what am I like! :-/

I'll let u know - I'm away mid week so it wouldn't be til next week anyway

That's exactly what I was thinking!!! Totally my thoughts - boys/girls work - he is younger and it's her turf!

But then I also believe sometimes our cats pick us and this big boy wasn't too interested in me whilst the girl was all over me and I even got a wee sniff and kiss! She was so relaxed and I was thinking oh she picked me - yay- but that's what swayed me!

However you make a very valid point - he has already had a successful introduction!

Oh I'm a coward - I want someone else to come along and pick one so I can have what's left!!! *useless* *shakeshead*

Hmmn, I say this as someone who has never had to introduce a new cat (so don't take too much notice of me!) but I think I would be leaning towards the boy. The boy has a proven track record of being introduced to a slightly older female (his current friend) and I've read that male/female combos are often more successful than female/female.

:luck: with whatever you decide!

Yeah I asked her about that - the female is aged 5 ( a year older than Nina) and very friendly with everyone and more outgoing although my impression was that she was like Nina - both in looks and personality but actually a bit more timid than Nina. Nina is fine with humans, it's just unexpected household noises and outside noises that make her jump and sometimes hide. Thos little lady was a bit jumpy with us stroking her.

The boy is 2 and very big - she says much more shy and timid but more of a lap cat when he gets to know his human. I found him timid and actually quite jumpy but then they are in a very busy house with 2 kids and a very barkey dog.

My initial thought was the girl as she seemed so like Nina as inquisitive and friendly but still cautious. But then on second thoughts similar age and size - maybe too alike!

The boy on the other hand is just a big dopey clown chasing flies about but I worry too big for Nina! But then Edgar was a big dopey raggie and she loved him!

As you can see I've did a lot of thinking!!

The girl she has had for 5 years - the boy just over a year. Lady has no preference and happy to split them up as says right home is what's important. I turned up with an equally cat daft pal, cat treats and a list of questions. Think she was impressed.

I just don't know *sigh*

Funny you should say that Gill.....

Because tonight I went to meet the woman looking for homes for her Maine Coons and now I have a problem as they are both so gorgeous and she obviously cares for them and has looked after them well that I'm in a dilema!!! I don't want to split cats up, she says they are not so close and she just wants a loving home that can give them time (she had dog and autistic child) that as long as there is another cat in the new house she doesn't mind!!!

I can't take two - my flat is just too wee but they are both so lovely and friendly!!!

Arrghhhhhh - I knew I never should have considered going to meet someone that had two cats

Thanks Jezebel,

I'm just being impatient. I should be encouraged the problems in some rescues with over flowing waiting lists isn't happening as much in my local area.

I did actually take two outdoor cats and make them indoor - However they were both 11 and had health problems. I got them through this very forum in 2008 and there hadn't been one enquiry about them in three months. They were happy as Larry with me but they just wanted a retirement home :-).

I just want the one pudd and the rescue that doesn't Rehome to indoor homes has an 18 yr old Persian and countless cats aged between 12-17 and I would say those cats would want a home of their own and would be happy on a warm lap but I'm biased!

No rush - I'm just impatient lol xx

Don't give up Caledonia, your new kitteh is out there somewhere!

When I joined this forum a couple of years ago, I was looking for two indoor cats (because we live on a busy road) and I thought I'd never find any. There was no way I was going to take cats who were used to going out and turn them into indoor cats, so it was a question of waiting until the right ones came along - and although it felt like ages, I found two within a short time.

Good luck!

Oh the hunt continues! Have filled out application with sunny harbour and emailed another rescue and visited the one earlier in the week.

However I've heard a woman out beside my mum is looking to Rehome a couple of Maine  coons. I get the impression that she wanted a couple of posh cats and bit of more than she can chew as she has had to get one shaved right back! Busy house with kids so not sure cats are fitting in!

Loads of nice cats in Rescues in the borders which is near me but they are all outdoor only and one rescue is very clear (and a bit disapproving) that they never Rehome to indoor only homes! I'm starting to feel like a lepar!!! :-(

Liz thanks - ill maybe email Sunny Harbour then - I've never spoken to Sarah directly but donated food via a volunteer in Edinburgh and I'm sure it was Sarah I was emailing earlier in the year. In fact tell a lie we exchanged messages on here way back when I got Oscar & Edgar in 2008 - think Sunny Harbour was just starting out then :-)

Thanks for reminding me about that boy! Ive just mailed the vet who put the post on - looking for an update and to ask how he is with other cats.

Two snow shoes in a shelter for two years? Surely not!!!!! I'd be really pushed to have three cats again - my flat Is small and space is of the essence for indoors. It worked before just cos Oscar was deaf, blind and slept ALL day!

Thanks again

It's good news that they don't have many indoors cats looking for homes. CHAT have quite a few but unfortunately don't rehome out of their area. There are two beautiful snowshoe cats down here in the Hastings branch that have been in the shelter for two years and are for a indoor home only. I thought about having them then turned into a failed fosterer. Can't believe they haven't been snapped up.

Have you thought about this guy? http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php?topic=41646.new;topicseen#new

Thanks for that Liz, I've not made contact with Sarah directly yet but I follow them on Facebook and have been following their blog. At the moment it seems the only indoor cats are two pairs and an old boy of 17 looking for a long term foster. I've contemplated the old boy but it goes back to my current cat - she is playful and as Edgar and Oscar were getting older she wanted to play and they didn't at 15 so maybe 17 is a bit too old for her?

I'm keeping my eyes on sunny harbour though - there is a couple of potentials at Whinnybank in Fife  too but the ads don't specify whether they are indoor or outdoor and normally Im disappointed in that area!

Thanks for the good luck wishes :-)

I'm not dismissing the idea of Moo Moo totally - I was checking her out last week and thinking about the impact of that lovely white fair on my chocolate brown couch! However I did survive a Raggie with as much fur so I would cope lol!

Let's see what October brings for Moo Moo - surely someone will have snapped her up! But you never know :-)

There is a terrified old girl of 13 in my local rescue whose elderly owner died who hides in a box all day - my heart says get her but my head realises Nina might be too full of beans for her. The rescue assured me she will get snapped up!

Seriously though, not trying to pressure you but if MooMoo is still looking come October it sounds like the girls may be a good match?

Sorry I should have added that I have my own transport and willing to travel for the right cat. My boys came from Leeds and I got them in Newcastle.

There seems to be a lot of potential Ragdolls, Persians and other cats dish south in the midlands but i'm never to sure if some rescues only deal locally especially as they wouldn't be able to home check me.

Hi all,

As previously mentioned I have been considering getting a second cat and have decided to go ahead.

Looking for

* Cat that gets on with other cats - current cat is a small built, timid Siberian female aged 4.

* Cat of any age but preference cat less than 3 or cat over 5 but the older cat perhaps more timid, non aggressive with other cats ( due to current cat - I think not the same exact age would improve chances of a good companionship)

* indoor Only cat or one that would not mind that lifestyle - I live in a flat with no outside access other than a small balcony which my cats have all liked to sun themselves on but maybe wouldn't suit an escape artist!

* I work full time on four days. I am sometimes home at lunchtimes but not guaranteed - so cat that this would suit.

* adult female household - no children for cat to contend with

* cat happy to share household with a timid but playful 4 year old female. My cat is used to other cats and has only been alone since nov 2011 when my second old boy was pts

* ideally a pedigree - purely because my experience has only been with pedigrees ( Maine coon, Balinese and Ragdoll) but happy to consider any pedigree, crossbreed or the right moggie (long haired perfect as used to longhaired)

Anyway I'm sure that probably sounds like an extensive and fussy list - its not meant to be just trying to find the best cat who will be happy with us forever.

I've visited one local rescue and been online looking at tons - indoor cats suitable with another cat are not too plentiful in Edinburgh. Maybe we are lucky up here :-)

I've also got in touch with one of the ragdoll rehoming groups who are planning to arrange a home check me in a couple of weeks. I previously rehomed 2 cats through UKRCC and my first boy was from a local rescue in Edinburgh.

Happy to wait a while for the right cat and probably not in a position to Rehome until October - purely because my annual leave renews then and I would take time off work to ensure cat is settling in and Nina is behaving :-)

Thanks for reading
