1) Simply no - there are more worthy organizations out there that I respect
2) I contacted them about a stray dog that was roaming, she was a staffy & i was worried someone may catch her and use her for the obv. It took the RSPCA 5 days to send out an inspector and even then they refused to catch the dog without the aid of the police. A neighbor took over, called her in with food and put the dog in the back of the van for them.
3) They don't investigate fully. I reported a garden/pet center as their puppies they were selling looked docile and drugged. They didn't bother going in to check, they called the manager of the shop, asked questions and left it at that. These puppies were obv not healthy.
4) I understand that the RSPCA are very busy but over the past few years, they seem to be lacking professionalism in their job. I say this in relations to Q 3, it's not the first or the last time that has happened. I feel they need to maybe be trained to a higher standard, possibly having officers who are specialized in certain animals, would help too.
5) I think it would be a good idea if local RSPCA centers run a monthly or bi-monthly clinic, where low-income of owners n benefits can visit to have their pets treated for free or a small donation. I also feel that running educational classes on pet training would be essential in areas. Showing kids how to train their dog, how to look after animals, what to do if they found a stray etc.
6) Purebreds are placed on a register, even a professional breeder can lack the right accommodation for keeping their animals. But a breeder who breeds for money will rarely socialize an animal and this is where a problem lays. I think there should be a regulation where if you want to breed your animal, then you need to get the go ahead from a vet. Cats and dogs have health check screenings before a responsible breeder breeds, I think a rule such as this should be made legal. That way if someone is selling kittens on a site such as gumtree, if the RSPCA kept an eye on the site and could contact the said seller, if they had the correct paper work, then all is good. If they do not, then the animals should be confiscated and the 'breeder' to be banned from keeping pets for x amount of years.
I know this sounds harsh but if it helps cut down kittens/puppies from being dumped at a shelter, then every little bit is good.
