Worming is one of those hit and miss affairs in our house as well.

Now I know Droncit spot-on only deals with tapeworm, but frankly I almost always fail to get a full dose of any oral wormers down my cats (am rubbish at pilling and they know when I've tampered with their grub) so this is what they get three times a year, then the vet pills 'em all when they have their MOTs in November.

I get mine from VetUK.

Well after 2 failed attempts at worming him (got bitten and scratched for my trouble)
I decided a trip to the V e t was in order
The vet seems to think it may be colitis he is on a very bland diet and had pain relief and anitbiotics he did seem better yesterday am but when I returned from work last night he seemed uncomfortable  again and we have had nil poo since going to the vet
he does not like fresh fish or scrambled egg just chicken
Vet said all his vitals are ok she could not feel anything nasty in his tummy he was slightly dehydrated so have to monitor that
Thanks for the good wishes and support guys

Hope he has picked up a bit

My lad Nuggie had the same type of thing only last week - alot of blood and i was besides myself  :( He took the trip to the people in coats who gave him an anti-biotic jab and did a full bloods screen (unfortunately, similar to you again, although Nuggie has never been a stray or anything, his preferred litter tray is the great outdoors so i didnt know how long it had been going on and couldnt monitor him properly)
His bloods came back all clear  ;D and with anti-biotic, worming and some gentle food hes picked up amazingly. So i dont know whether hes eaten something or what -but hes back to his grumpy old self  :evillaugh: :evillaugh: Definitely something seems to be on the rounds!

Hope everythings ok

Ask the Vet to check if he has been neutered, and also if he has a microchip (this is doubtful but you never know).

If he has no chip, you could request one be inserted, and claim him for yourself forever.  :shify:

Always treat for worms first, this type of symptom can be explained by parasites which he will have brought with him.

The vet will likely treat him with an antibiotic jab and possibly a vitamin to perk him up. Ask the vet about further worm treatments for your other pets too.

Most of all, please don't worry - as Gill said, there's a lot of this about at the moment and the majority of cases are being treated simply and successfully. Sending vibes for his quick recovery

How long are you going to keep him indoors? l;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;./iooooooooooool

(that was a Snoozle from Tufty to say thank you for being so nice to Smudge)

It all sounds very favourable, but I wonder if he'd revert to type as soon as he's let out as he's been living rough for so long. Tufty still heads for the garage at no.38 (where he used to sleep when he was a stray) when he can't get in here (he hasn't fathomed the cat flap works both ways yet) and comes home filthy and flea ridden but warm and dry.

Well done, this world needs more caring people like you

Well he doesn't seem to want to go back outside lol (Well who would it's freezing lol) although we r sending him back out when we r at work he has a bed and food outside it is kinda in the hall way of our block of flats so technically not outside but still cold

he is out atm so the others are making the most of it lol
It is very strange he has just made himself at home almost as though he has been here before they all had snacks together earlier and zak went on the bed while smudge was in the window

He is just a lovely cat not really a wild one as perhaps I have portrayed him lol

His story is he lived with our alcoholic neighbour, one day I saw him eating from the rubbish bins so gave him some food few weeks after he figured out where we lived and rarely left our doorway.
now when he hears the neighbours voice he cowers which is horrible to see
I think he knows where his bread is buttered lol

Such a lovely story  :Luv: well done you

An awful long time for him to go it alone and no wonder he was smothering you with cuddles  ;D ;D

Still cant get my head round people who just abandon animals and not even a second thought about their welfare or not caring if they're still alive or not  >:(
I'd  :duel: for my babies (even the OH would know better than to ever make me choose  :evillaugh: it wouldnt end well for him  :evillaugh:)

So glad Smudge found such lovely people  :Luv2: and Abbey & Zak appear to have taken it in their stride  :) a few hisses is normal me thinks  :) :)

sounds a familiar story.      We used to find a cat in our tree asleep.    No one knew who he belonged to and he wasn't chipped.     We began feeding him as he was hungry but didn't actually move in until one snowy February day.     He spent a while living in the kitchen before getting the run of the house.     fast forward a couple of years and Ginger's paws are well and truly under the table.

hope it all works out!

I have come to the conclusion that letting them kinda get on with it with supervision is the best way to go they had seen one another when we have the door open in summer when Zak and Smudge played footsie lol

I guess I better take him vets get him checked and jabs!! ;)

Allowed the cat who lived outside my flat to move in!!!!!
I already had 2 cats inside Abby and Zak, Smudge the outside boy moved in on Sat cos it was snowing and he is getting older now and i felt so sorry for him.
Was a nightmare having him in the bedroom with us over night he either nicked the bed or was lying on me lol
was better last night he found somewhere better to sleep.

Abby and zak don't seem too bothered Abby has told him off a few times hissed at him but all in all i think it is going ok
all 3 cats are at present asleep in seperate rooms lol
