shes been dropped off- apparently her back teeth are in a bad way but she cant have them done yet till we know whats up with her. Im hoping its just her teeth , if it is then it would all be a lot simpler :wow:
near disaster on way- some idiot (read child :innocent:) has pulled one of back clips off carrier so it kept opening up  :censored:
thankfully mo is so docile it wasnt in her plan to escape on bus or near the roads, nearly had a nervous breakdown though :-:
thanks for good vibes all   :thanks:

The Glasgow test is much more reliable than the Elisa test they can do in-house. Whatever the result in-house, definitely ask for this (it's not too expensive but is fairly conclusive).

This is the one test you really want to know the result of as it affects whether she can socialise with other cats, or needs to be separated in everyone's best interests. If it's FIV, not really a problem. If it's FeLV, it's a problem. If it's neither we'll all be round yours for a bottle of bubbly. Good luck for Thursday

i asked girl on phone but she seemed clueless tbh, she said it depends on what tests he decides on, i imagine its inhouse although i will ask for glasgow test if they are willing?
shes having an ultrasound for kidneys , god knows what else :-:
i have to collect her in the afternoon -she said mo will be in for the day :(

I give up on my cats today- they meowed for food, gave them dry and wet (in gravy how they like it :innocent:), cat milk and water and they turned up their noses.... :censored:
they are getting too used to having cooked chicken etc in the evenings i think so obviously have started expecting a bit more than what they are used to :innocent:
only Mo has actually eaten today!

Me also keeping everything crossed for little Mo, bless her.

Mac does that with any food he's suspicious of - prawns, pork, sossuj - he eats it eventually (usually) but not before he's beaten it halfway round the room for good measure......  :innocent:

Mo is booked in on thurs morning for tests ultrasound etc..they said she will be in for the day :(
really really dreading it now but i guess i will know for sure whats going on with little miss mo at last.
Mo on the other hand was meowing for the first time this morning in her room so shes finally making demands and started the leg rubbing with her head on my ankles, the first cat like behaviour shes actually shown :wow:
I did try all the cats with some raw chicken liver yesterday.....
mo bit it then ran around with a lump attached to side of mouth till she dropped it...
Georgia took one look and ran off petrified
Miyagi batted it about with his paws like it was alive and gave it a few licks :innocent:
result...dont think raw food is the answer for my cats

To help with weight gain have you thought about kitten food as its higher in calories and I am feeding an extra sachet to my Hyper T boy and have used it on both old and young cats when they have mouth issues in fact blitzed up it is so much easier to eat with no lumps of food its sort of like Pate

The cat milk is great for adding calories and we use that as well there are also things like Liquivite which is a high calorie food and we used it with our old ferals with success

As long as she is putting on weight and eating little and often then she is going the right way ;D

I agree with Sue P, you needed her to gain weight before her mouth could be sorted and you are achieving that, you are giving her the best chance for the best possible outcome and no one can do more than that

thxs rosella :shy: i know its good that her weights going up but i just worry its not enough, dreading the vets as if its bad news i dont think i can cope...i dont want to have to think about the dreaded pts...... I just dont know whats going on with her mouth, can she live on constant anti biotics etc? it obviously hurts as she hates me going near her mouth though bless her shes soo sweet that when shes had enough she looks me in my eyes and pushes my face gently with her paws as if to say thats enough now please....i cant bear when she does that, id rather her bite my finger :(

hi all :wow:

back from my jollys :wow:

I weighed Mo and shes 2.4 kgs so not really put on much at all but at least its a slow increase. I have also been observing her food habits and she needs you to sit with her and watch her eat...otherwise she leaves it so going to monitor it over the next few days, shes eaten a tray of sheba? and a carton of milk today along with water plus some chicken so she is eating..but if i sit with her and show her the food on my fingers first.
her mouth is still gunky so thats not changed at all :-:
her fur is growing well and her eyes look a lot better ..will arrange a vets visit this week so hope to see whats going on then with her, she did give me a lovely cuddle today and sat on my knee for about an hour :Luv2:

thanks-
mo has put on a bit more weight but not much.. its going up though so its progress :shy:
I am going away today for a week to a mad cat hotel in fuerteventura so my daughter is looking after mo - shes doing a level 3 advanced diploma in animal care at college and gets to work with animals at college and at the nature centre on fridays where she does her placement so shes good with learning about nutrition etc and she is good with our cats as her cat Georgia is a pampered princess :innocent: so already a mad catgirl  :evillaugh:
its not the best time to be going away but booked it earlier this year as i am taking my younger son phoenix aged 5 and daughter blossom aged 7 away due to the fact all the others went away to devon in the summer to their nans but Phe and bloss didnt get to go.
Im happy though that Mo is confident with Willow so hoping she doesnt notice too much of a change and willow is on strict instructions to give mo lots of cuddle time too :shy:
I will contact insurance when i come back.
Oh i phoned my vets and the vets named by woman had No record of Mo :censored:

jo xx

I think that all insurance is now playing games to give themselves a get out and AXA for example ask for a copy of the vet records on the first claim........gives me a problem with Lupins tummy maybe.

AXA or petplan are the best but AXA cheaper with a set excess. Pedigreees are more expensive to insure and I think your problem is going to be that Mo has seen a vet and was in very bad condition so anything could be wrong with her and thats more or less recorded by your vet.

It may be worth talking to AXA but think you are on a slippery slope with them due to her initial condition and they dont payout for anything in first 14 days after insurance starrts as well.

It maybe worth putting up a general post asking for info about how other insurances work but Know they are more expensive on the whole and with worse cover than AXA.

On the whole AXA is fair but her smelly mouth may also be down to other problems like kidneys.

However after only being with you for two week, she is doing really well.

well her mouth is still stinking and although better than it was its still not better, she has been here two weeks tonight :shy:

Ive been looking at pet insurance but if you get an online quote they dont give you bits to put in her mouth infection etc, I was thinking it may be best to sort some out asap if there is some that would cover her if she gets seriously ill..
i dont want to just take out a policy that state vaguely that she has a pre existing condition and no box to say what they are :-:

i think she must have put on weight though as when i carry her on my shoulder she actually now has a bit of weight to her, before it was like lifting a mongolian scatter cushion :shy:

Hope all is going well with Mo

I just weighed our Boris and, at only 7 months old, he is already 3.6kgs.  It puts Mo's weight into perspective and shows she has some way to go yet but steady improvement is a very good sign  :)

Probably best to wait for weighing at the vets cos all scales tend to be different.

She sounds such a good girl and so pleased you are able to spend time with her somewhere else cos as long as your other cats arent in same room she should be no danger to them.

Come on Mo, you are doing so well

thxs rosella , didnt weigh her in end as daughter watching bloomin jungle program so couldnt get it set up on wii, i think i need to buy a new set of scales- i must have reverse hoarding syndrome as i have "do's" when stressed and shot stuff out
Mo is a good girl bless her-shes desperate to get out of that bathroom though :innocent: i do sometimes sit her in my room with me to watch tv and a stroke as dont want her getting distressed on her own so she now has a nice black satin throw with diamontes on it that shes knicked :innocent:

This young lady is in my thoughts very much and how good of her to be well behaved in the bath  :)

I'm sure you'll find you are comparing weights with Mr M and Georgia and coming up with untrue weight loss for Mo.

At least I very much hope so  :-:.  I've worried myself unnecessarily that way in the past

no i havent ordered the stuff yet, will do on weds when i get some more money :shy:
mo has turned a bit savage trying to nip when i clean her face now, she never actually does but makes a show of it  she still has gunk but a lot less so think she may be feeling a bit more lively as before she never opened her mouth.
im sure she feels skinny again though but wonder if its because i have been giving miyagi and georgia more fuss? i will try to weigh her later on the wii if i can as threw my scales out last week..not sure why, i was having a mental through out anything not obviously working
