2 calls yesterday from different people. Both quite young (one said he was 17) anyway, they both coincidently rang about a cat with a silver sparkly collar on that had a tag or writing on the collar that said "I am microchipped". The 17 yr old lad said this cat never seems to live anywhere and it always outside. I told him to call me today if he gets it again as I couldn't go round last night as had no transport and couldn't get a babysitter for the kids at short notice. Anyway, he insisted it was a female cat that looked identical to Billy#s pictures. The girl in the morning said this cat looked the same too but she didn't get close enough to the cat to see its gender only that it had this silver collar on. I emailed the lady that originally told me to put posters up there and she emailed back saying that she thinks this is my cat and she lives right near where the cat has been seen yesterday so will look again monday as she's gone away today for the weekend. All I need really is someone to photograph this cat and send me the pic really and I'd know. I can't even go round there today as I'm at work and can't take more time off as I'm already behind with hours. I'll definitely go over there at the weekend though. Mayo Road is named by the lad who says its aways there. But he was adament it was a female cat. And no one would put a collar on my cat that said i am microchipped would they? I mean he is microchipped so for them to know that he'd need to be scanned then I'd be contacted..... I suspect this poor cat is just someone elses and now I've got people chasing after it

Have everything crossed it was him :wish: Just looked on google maps and looks like there's about 2 miles between the areas. Maybe you could put some posters up near the hospital too, lots of visitors for maximum exposure.

Hiya,

I did this ad on gumtree http://www.gumtree.com/p/pets/have-you-found-a-blackwhite-cat/94786104 just over a week ago and last night I had an email that said:

Quote
I believe I saw this cat in Carrington running across hucknall road, I turned back to make sure it had made it across the road okay.
I specifically remember the markings as there is another black and white cat in the area I see doing 'his rounds' at night, and I mentioned to my partner I had just seen a lost looking one.
I have not seen it since but that was about 2 weeks ago.
I will keep an eye out in the future for you if I see it again I will try and coax it nearby and try and get a picture.
All I can advise now is to out up posters and contact your insurance comopany for help.
I sincerely hope you find your lost moggie, I don’t know what I would do if I lost either of mine
Kindest Regards

I've asked them to confirm what the nearest road is off Hucknall road as I'd like to get the posters up as close as possible to the exact point she saw him.

This strange little site has an entry that may be worth following up. It's the seventh one down with very sketchy details.

http://www.amissingpet.co.uk/lostandfound.html

Thinking of you and sending "come home" vibes out to Billy, wherever he is tonight.

I apologise Sheila, I didn't see this post until today :( Hmm interesting, though if it's that long ago they advertised, they may not have the cat now, but I think I'll text the number... Skegby is a little way away though but thanks x

Thanks for thinking of me. There's been nothing for a while now. The NG5 advert didn't even produce people calling me about any cats, and I'd suspected I might get a few random callers but hardly anything. I'm still hoping. I check lost pet registers and animal search uk, gumtree and Notts Post online daily.

I've even just contacted someone who#s founf a cat in Arnold but they put female on animal search uk, and that it has a black collar on. I know it's unlikley but if he was adopted by someone who then put another collar on him, AND the person who has found this cat thinks it's female then I want to cover all possibilities. Sad I know, but I feel compelled to try.

No more news. Spoke to the lady called Edith who the caller reckoned had also seen this black/white cat and she just sadly said "I don't remember him having any white on him". She did remember he was a long black cat and that she couldn't be sure he didn't have white if it was on his front as she saw him from the back. But she now has seen some clear pics of him so she will ring me if this cat turns up again. Also nothing from either the leaflets that were posted through doors on that street or anything else from the NG5 magazine except for someone on MY ROAD phoning my about a cat that I know lives on my road and isn't really like Billy :P

Hiya, sorry didn't see your post Sheila, yes I'm ok thanks, NG5 Magazine started going out, seen my website has had activity since it began going out yesterday (in the logs I can see several hits from people and it's looks like they're Nottingham area too!)

Had a phonecall from a man living near where I work, other side though to where I had that woman telling me a few weeks back. Will update the site with a map tomorrow but it's basically point A on the map and point C being home. I am going there tomorrow as it's dark now and tomorrow I can knock on a few doors and ask people. The man said cat hanging round up to 2 months and wearing red collar as he saw it earlier on.

This sounds very encouraging :crossed: I've been checking in on the findbilly site from time to time hoping for good news

I'm sure the very next thought everyone had on seeing that Grapelli had been found was of you and poor lost Billy.

Hopefully you'll get a result with this ad

I don't know if you've been following Grapelli's story (cat lost from hotel huundreds of miles from home) but he was found after nearly eight weeks - there hadn't beeen one single sighting until one sighting the day before they managed to find him so just goes to show, even if you're not getting regular sightings it doesn't mean that Billy isn't out there safe and well

I spoke to the owner previously she is nice, she was keeping an eye out for Billy but she said she'd never seen him herself. But the person who rang me yesterday about a sighting didn't een notice a collar, she noticed the cats markings and that's a good thing as I don't think she even thought about the collar. The thing is about the woman that owns the similar cat, she has 3 cats and she makes them all wear red and black collars! I didn't like to ask her when I spoke to her a few weeks back... but I am not even mentioning the collar on my next posters that will go up in that area as I don't reckon he's even got it on anymore. They come off so easily and if someone has adopted him on that estate they'd have done so because either he didn't have a collar or they wanted to keep him anyway. I#m thinking he may well be there and if he is, he is being looked after by someone... otherwise he'd be outside most of the time and he was such a homebody that he liked to have regular sleeps indoors and feeding every few hours that he's inside someones house a lot.

I know it sounds crazy but I did a visualization thing that I read about tracing lost animals... I thought I could see him through his eyes in someones house, someone elderly, smoking, but Billy seemed to be sat on a sofa or chair in their living room.

I may well be bonkers...  :innocent:

Just had a thought...

Is there any way you'd be able to easily trace the owners of the Billy lookalike with the black face? If so you could explain the sightings you're having and offer to buy him a new collar in a different colour (plus a replacement maybe in case it comes off). If they're cat lovers (which you'd hope they are if they have one!) then I'm sure they'd be fine about it. This was you'd know any sightings might well be Billy rather than lookalike cat.
