I don't need to remind you just how many other cats are out there looking for a loving home!
You can't change the world by rescuing one cat, but for that one cat you are changing its world.

Awwww, I fell in love at my "local" (30 miles) shelter when I dropped some bits off for their shop a couple of weeks ago.  There's many shelters I just couldn't go to, but I always feel comfortable at this one as it's fantastic.  Very full just now tho' :(

I can usually go without any particular on stealing my heart, but not this time.

I'd love to take him but worried about "rocking the boat" as I have 2 dominant cats who have only recently managed to come to "an understanding" but still have the odd spat and worried that another dominance war would break out if I got another.

I honestly don't think mine appreciate how lucky they are either (maybe I should take them there for a couple of weeks and see if they appreciate me/home more afterwards - lol, as if!).

I'm going back next Sunday as it's their open day - really hoping the one I've fallen for has found a home by then or it's going to be even harder to say no.

I've also heard of rescue's not rehoming to homes without a cat flap which is just ridiculous IMHO - another silly one is to rule people out because they work full time (dogs I get, but not cats - they sleep most of the time & just adjust their wake/sleeping times to when you're in/out).

Both cats go out when I get up and have a couple of hours before I leave for work.  Mia doesn't get to stay out when I'm not home as she has a "dodgy" knee and have to keep an eye on her - but she's usually back within an hour anyway.  Archie has the choice to stay out or come in - he gets a yell about 1/2 an hour before I leave and 9 x out of 10 will come in quite happily.  Both get out again when I get home but, again, neither stays out that long.

Good luck with the paperwork!

Shame about Princess but at least you know she's gonna have a forever home.

Don't think anything will keep Archie under control  :evillaugh:

I think you will be upset about Effie for a while when you see black cats Si, I was the same with my Smudge.

Good luck with finding another PURRfect cat/kitten.

She is lovely   ;D  but female cats seem to be a bit more wary of other cats I think , dont you have a female cat?

What Helen said! Two offers of homes isn't a definite that she will be suitable for them and vice versa.

Sometimes you can be chosen by a cat. :) Wouldn't hurt to put in an application, just in case. :D

Aaah what a beauty  :Luv2:
Well whoever ends up with her will be very lucky and maybe you'll be able to home a struggling little lady with no offers

OMG Si, I thought you was gonna say you came home with half a dozen cats  :naughty:

Aswell as doing the home visits for the RSPCA in Halifax I also go in and stroke all the cats and spend some time with them.  Now and again there is one that meows when I close the pen and looks at me with those big sorrowful eyes  :Luv2:

The dogs actually spend most of the day in the offices and behind reception so they have some company and sit next to the radiators and get petted.

Strange about the cat flap - can't understand that one at all.

I know there are lots of rules, we were looking at the list this sanctuary gave and we would ahve failed a couple. We dont have a cat flap for one and they refuse to rehome to a house without a cat flap. We prefer Ella to be in whilst we are out and she is happy enough to be out in the evening. If we do get another the cat would be around Archie's age as a playmate for him

Won't this sanctuary home as indoor cats either?  Rules like that seem a bit petty.

totally agree Si - the dogs do seem to struggle in kennels - the resuce I help at nearly always wants them to go to no other cat homes which is the only thing that keeps me in check - they say that the risk of them coming back is much less if there isn't another animal to fall out with which I do understand.  Although our local rspca is a whole different ball game, they wouldn't let us take amber as she is torti and we have a bengal already and they said they wouldn't get on, anyway six weeks later they change their minds when it looked like she would be around for a while, and tilly and amber are best mates too

Decided to go and have a look and donate. They had goats, tortoises, rabbits as well as dogs and cats. The dogs look so unhappy in their kennels, at least the cats sleep, they had such sad eyes and growl with nerves - Sean is more of a dog person than I am but I was really upset by them and how sad they looked. Their cattery was full but they only have a few cages. They had about 12 cats (one mother and kittens) and I spent a while with the cats just fussing and talking with them. There was one I fell in love with Princess, same age as Ella and she was craving attention and cuddles, the rest also came for attention but there was just somethign about Princess. I really just wanted to scoop her in my arms. Alas she doesn't like other cats or I think Sean would have agreed to start the process of adoption! She was beautiful and I hope she gets a home. Well I hope they all do!

It just made me sad to think of all the cats in rescue and again what a fab job all the resues do. Sean and I were saying that our two dont appreciate the life they have and how lucky they are. We gave them huuuuuuuge cuddles when we got in and they were like "WHAT?" >:( Spoilt so so so's

A big cyber hug to all the animals in rescue and a special big one to Princess
