Awwww, I fell in love at my "local" (30 miles) shelter when I dropped some bits off for their shop a couple of weeks ago. There's many shelters I just couldn't go to, but I always feel comfortable at this one as it's fantastic. Very full just now tho'
I can usually go without any particular on stealing my heart, but not this time.
I'd love to take him but worried about "rocking the boat" as I have 2 dominant cats who have only recently managed to come to "an understanding" but still have the odd spat and worried that another dominance war would break out if I got another.
I honestly don't think mine appreciate how lucky they are either (maybe I should take them there for a couple of weeks and see if they appreciate me/home more afterwards - lol, as if!).
I'm going back next Sunday as it's their open day - really hoping the one I've fallen for has found a home by then or it's going to be even harder to say no.
I've also heard of rescue's not rehoming to homes without a cat flap which is just ridiculous IMHO - another silly one is to rule people out because they work full time (dogs I get, but not cats - they sleep most of the time & just adjust their wake/sleeping times to when you're in/out).
Both cats go out when I get up and have a couple of hours before I leave for work. Mia doesn't get to stay out when I'm not home as she has a "dodgy" knee and have to keep an eye on her - but she's usually back within an hour anyway. Archie has the choice to stay out or come in - he gets a yell about 1/2 an hour before I leave and 9 x out of 10 will come in quite happily. Both get out again when I get home but, again, neither stays out that long.
Good luck with the paperwork!
