So sorry to hear he is unwell again! :(  Bit of a roller coaster kitty isn't he?

We have a little black and white  one in at the moment. She has been here for weeks and weeks, and the kitten we trapped just before Christmas weighs 1.8 kilos already!   They nearly weigh the same.  The little one was found by my son when at work as a tree surgeon.  She seems to have a croupy noisy throat with some mucous at the back of her throat.  She too is helped by the useful Liquivite, bisolvon and some animony carny mixed together with her Orijen.  It goes down well, just in case her throat is sore.  She used to eat such small amounts.  Now once she has got some Bisolvon inside her, she will eat some dry at lunch time.

Can't be spayed until at least 2 kg also needs to be a good size because of intubation. She is called Teresa (trees are green get it?). :)

Tell your lad to get well very soon, his foster Mum said so! :)

It seems as if by trying to let Mum enjoy a well deserved break with us she was hiding a secret or five, that may well have ended up as clinical waste and a slightly more complicated operation if we had made the decision to spay her more quickly, difficult call.     But as Angie says they are cute, and I am so relieved that they look okay so far.

Would you believe this was getting on for 3 years ago?!!!!  Heaven sent us two of the spotties  :Luv2: :Luv2:  Bob is a bit under the weather again at the moment, bloody cat flu is a bummer but it feels like much less serious than it was in 2012.  Liquivite, crumbled bits of chicken and bisolven are again helping greatly whenever he will dain to eat.  He went to our vets for the day on Friday and the VNs syringe fed him which improved his appetite.  His bro Boris is as concerned as he ever was at his brother being kept isolated from him ......... i.e. not in the least  ;)

I checked the vaccine site last night, and it seems from the paperwork I have that it is a live attenuated virus that is used.  As you said in your previous post, we have to do what is considered "best practice" for them and the other animals in our care.  There have been so many really bad viruses around recently, and with people being strapped for cash, the situation won't be improving.

I am letting Mummy feel secure with them a little longer, and not trying to handle her babies unless really necessary.  I have started to give them a little stroke along their backs so far, and will gradually build on the handling.   Plus it is all too easy to get the sexing wrong when they are so little!

Thanks for your support, I will worry less when they start to toddle around.

I have telephoned the vets that we used for them, and I suspect the main man is on his holidays, as I have not yet had my call returned.  I have a feeling that none of the vaccines are live, but will feel better if they confirm my thoughts were correct!  :-:

don't beat yourself up about it -what's done is done you can't undo it and it certainly wasn't done on purpose  :hug:at the end of the day they are here and are rather attractive little dotties  :Luv2: in a safe loving home with their mum.

as long as the FIE vacc was not live then they should be OK as far as Cerebellar Hypoplasia goes -but CH kittens aere hard to spot at first due to the fact all kitties are wobbly etc until about 6 weeks or so -so this type of problem is not immediately obvious -but they all look happy and healthy  :Luv2:

The Mummy cat was enjoying nursing her kittens when she came in on the 16th of Feb., and we thought we had homes for all of the kittens as soon as.  But one person was not quite suitable, and the other lovely lady (homechecked) had a holiday booked in a couple of weeks time after they came in, so as Angie said "no real rush". We quarantined Mum and kittens, de flead and de wormed them, and when they had had their first vaccinations, moved them into the cat room.  I even asked the vet if she was pregnant or just fat, and he blamed good living!

The slightly enlarged nipples being blamed for her extended nursing of her kittens. Little did we know until a week last Friday when I felt wrigglings in my hands, literally hours after the last two of her kittens had gone to a good home!   I spent the next few days until Saturday, absolutely scared that we had vaccine damaged the kittens.  I am so relieved to see that the kittens appear to be normal after two lots of vaccines were given to their Mum.  The previous kind lady who took Mum in, not knowing she was pregnant then, must have been letting her out. :(  Everything gets neutered  here before any accidents happen!

This will be her final litter, and she is being cared for really well and we will be fussy about where we home her new babies and of course her too.  ;)

oh my - :Luv:
I call Boris spotty dog after the old kids tv prog Woodentops (you need to be ancient like me to remember it lol ) because with his CH he walks so stiff legged !
They are just so erm spotty  :Luv2: repeat to myself I do not need a spotty kitten ------
:innocent: tbh I am seriously thinking of adding to the felines bit later in the summer but my needs are a bit more special due to the other purries problems and the cat will need to be indoor only and bomb proof -on the plus side it will have a very playful if a bit clumsy companion in Boris and a gentle one in Froglet plus the others.
maybe it's good you are so far away  :'(

They look like dalmations - good job there aren't 101 - although left to herself she would soon have that many if she survived.    Just shows why females should be spayed as soon as possible.  Nevertheless, they're gorgeous Angie.

- no real boys in the cat room with her

I think that confirms she definitely caught before she came to you Angie otherwise I'd suggest renaming her Mary  ;)

I think I worked out she was with us about 8 weeks so she must have caught a few days before she arrived. Normally she would have been spayed but as there seemed no rush she wasn't - no real boys in the cat room with her.
