I'm not a cryer, being a tough Scot, but reading the update of her progress today brought tears to my eyes.

Poor old girl, much of what it says echos my thoughts though, how she'd adapt when she's been so used to a different life for so long.  It's good they're assessing her physical and psychological needs thoroughly.  Hoping for the very best outcome for her, she so deserves it

This obscenity has sparked outrage around the world and has been reported by the press everywhere. The Daily Mail, in particular, has continued to raise the profile of the case. Fingers crossed, Anne may be free soon, and hopefully Parliament will ban the use of animals in circuses in the UK.

Wondering if it would be any help to email Roberts Brothers at their circus site begging them to let Annie go.

Just Pray all the coverage and petition will help Annie to be freed.

Cannot understand the Roberts family. Why can't they do the right thing and free Annie to a sanctuary. >:(

I have been reading that she is not kept in very good conditions at all :(

Anne's plight has  been reported on Sky News tonight and can be seen on Sky News online:

http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Video-Annie-The-UKs-Last-Remaining-Elephant-From-Bobby-Roberts-Super-Circus-Being-Cruelly-Treated/Article/201103415961534?lpos=UK_News_Second_Home_Page_Article_Teaser_Region_3&lid=ARTICLE_15961534_Video%3A_Annie_The_UKs_Last_Remaining_Elephant_From_Bobby_Roberts_Super_Circus_Being_Cruelly_Treated

Police and RSPCA are investigating.
Needlesstosay, Bobby and Moira Roberts have denied any knowledge of this abuse. How can anyone who has an animal they love not be aware of a change of behaviour/mood and realise that something is wrong?

This is a small step in the right direction.

I keep thinking back to the case of the poor chimp and Mary Chipperfield.

I just HOPE Annie will be removed to a safe place where she can be with other elephants to live out the rest of her life in comfort

Thanks, Alison and Helen

A Catchat peep posted this earlier

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-northamptonshire-12874184

Hopefully something will be done. Signatures now up to 1220. It will need continued pressure from media and animal welfare groups, I think, to put pressure on the government to finally ban the use of animals in circuses but every signature counts.

Cross posted from Catchat. This is so sad. Please sign the petition

'the terribly sad story of Ann the 58 year old elephant abused in a British circus for years.
The RSPCA looked into this in 2005 and said there was no proof and nothing they could do....!!!
Now here's the latest with photos on the desperate plight of this poor, poor girl...
