Is there a 'Purrs' facebook group?

Yes it's up to each individual to adjust their settings and most people probably have no idea they are missing anything, your only option is to send all your friends a message through facebook which they will see rather than a wall post, and tell them how to change their settings, then ask everyone to re-post your wall post onto their own walls to spread the word!

Sooooo.... am I right thinking that all I can do is post about the Purrs Cat Show on my wall.  It's then up to my FB friends to edit their settings to allow them to see posts by their FB friends who don't use FB much i.e. ME

If you scroll to the bottom of your wall there is a blue bar across the bottom, on the right hand side click 'edit options' you then have a choice between 'Show posts from': All of your friends and pages OR Friends and pages you interact with most.

I feel I should mention that I spend no time at all on the computer, its just a complete coincidence that I happen to know this ..........really......

Just a quickie for you FB officionados out there  . 

I've been trying to use my FB account and the Purrs FB account to mention the Cat Show but I wonder if just posting something on my wall actually gets noticed by all of my FB friends  or I should be doing something else?

Someone tipped me off recently that facebook have been fiddling with the settings so that the default setting means you only see wall posts of people you have recently interacted with, there is a way to alter it so that you see wall posts for all friends though.

No that post doesnt reach people, I looked on your wall to find it and by then it was 19hrs old and I couldnt see it in the news feed.

I've got a lovely one of our Ruby  but can't decide which Class it goes into.  Might just be able to dig one up of Groucho too if I look hard enough 

Am really looking forward to seeing the pics.  Trying to sort through them last year was so distracting coz Purrs members have some stunning furry friends and that's the truth

The 2011 Purrs Cat Show is on it's way and, as always, all money raised will be distributed between our registered rescues  .
 
I'll be asking you to email me your photo entries, as attachments, from SATURDAY 23 APRIL and FINAL DATE for emailing pics and payment will be THURSDAY 5 MAY. 

FULL DETAILS OF HOW TO ENTER WILL COME LATER

This thread is to give ya some notice that ya need to start clicking those furry guys and gals... 

It will be £1 per ENTRY in any Class.  Generally that will mean one picture entered in 3 Classes will be £3.     However the more alert of you will notice that Class 2 requires two pics for the one ENTRY ..... 

Please remember that, whilst I am no techie, I am able to resize most pics emailed to me (if not too small; minimum 600 pixels would be fab) and I can also add your captions to pics for the LOLcats section.  Naturally it makes my job easier if you are able to though! 

The furbabes in the pics should be of cats that have been cared for by you at some point in their lives.  No Photoshop stuff either I'm afraid.  All "au naturel" if ya don't mind 

I am extremely grateful for everyone's suggestions for this year's CATegories. For further inspiration, I have gone back to read through previous years' suggestions coz this is serious stuff tha knows   

My aim has been to try and ensure peeps can enter as many classes as possible so I've tried to exclude references to breed, colour and age.  I think I succeeded apart from age (see Class 4) for which I hope I'll be forgiven  .

So .... drum roll  .........what you've all been waiting for  ..............

The Classes for the Purrs Cat Show 2011 are................

1.   LOLcats 

2.   From this to ..... THIS (which apart from showing young uns blossoming would hopefully show fabulous work of rescues  )

3.   Video of Furbabe(s) - (suggest max 30 seconds and will need to be sent to me as a link already uploaded to either Youtube or Photobucket.   This Class is gonna be especially useful for all those fidgets out there that won't stay still for pics!)

4.   Golden Oldies (aged 15 yrs and over) 

5.   Relaxing Cats

6.   Playful Cats

7.   Cat Expressions

8.   Cat Positions
 
9.   Cute Cats

10.   Mainly Fluffy Suited Cats

11.   Mainly Smooth Suited Cats

12.   Cats and their pals - (to include feline and non feline pals)

As last year, voting will be as follows:

All Classes

Semi Final

Final

You can enter as many classes as you like with the same picture, as long as it appropriate to the Class title.

As always, voting will be done by the membership of Purrs.

So please start getting your photos together, saving a few quid for entries and wait for details of submission
   
I've just reread last year's similar thread and saw all the chivvying along you made Gill do  .  I feel a bit .  You ain't gonna do that to me are you  ?
