UPDATE: 13 JUNE 2011 - TOUCH DOWN!

"Sticky" has landed in the UK, and will shortly be on his way to the mandatory "holiday home", so to speak for 6 months. After that he will finally be able to relax in his "forever home" pictures to follow soon. Once again, a big thank you to all who helped and please keep spreading the word about the fantastic job that all at Nowzad Dogs do!

I am sat at work crying - I am so happy for this little fella.

Thank's Gail. I had been wondering too. I knew they exceeded the funding required, which is great as it means more animals saved.

Thanks for updating, Gail. I know of Nozwad Dogs and any excess from the Sticky fund will help other animals in desperate need. Can't wait to hear that he is safe in the UK.

I am sure Sticky will be in the home coming parade - and he will be headline news - well I hope so. I think he would ne happy on the barraks, counting the boys and girls out and making sure the same number return, maybe with a little kitty tucked under someones arm.

Now at £5019 + gift aid. Amazing,  and in such a short space of time. I do hope we get to hear how arrangements for him coming over are progressing and how he gets on in the UK. I understand from the papers that the paras are ending their tour next month. I'm sure it will have boosted the guys/gals morale no end to know that people over here are supporting them in their efforts to save Sticky.

Help Sticky - Afgan kitten
« Reply #1 on: March 12, 2011, 19:08:05 PM »
Taken from www.justgiving.com/helpsticky

'Sticky" is a 6 month old kitten currently living in a Check Point with UK Paratroopers in Afghanistan, Helmand Province.

You ask what the story is;

Well, we rescued Sticky and his brother Relentless from the local children who were cruelly using them as footballs! Out side the Check point. We initially thought they were dead, but after a few minutes one came around followed by the other! After a lot of coaxing and feeding with food from our rations over the next few weeks they perked up and became two fantastic companions in the Check point. The blokes have been great with getting Cat food and biscuits sent over, along with worming tablets and flea capsules. Sadly, Relentless (named because of his insatiable appetite for anyone's food!) went missing a few weeks back; we think he had taken some poison that is used a lot in Afghanistan to control the mice and rats, and unfortunately we found him in a ditch a few days later. To add to this Sticky then walked in a week ago barely able to walk; again we have been nursing him, but is now getting better. (No broken bones). We think either a local has kicked him or he's run into one of the many stray dogs around here. Essentially, we all agree, Sticky deserves better than this and would love to get him home with the help of NOWZAD DOGS.COM a charity set up for just this purpose, to a caring home that is waiting! I think he is worth it and certainly deserves it! Our tour finishes soon and we need to act now! Our target is raising £5000 in order to get STICKY moving through the long and expensive process back to the UK.'

There is a really cute picutre of him. Looks like a little ginger tabby.
