Hey I'm Kerri. Came across this site through Leigh cats and dogs home website. that's where I got my first cat Davey from. Then back in October I got my second kitten Tinker. I adore them both; we had a cat when I was growing up. He was called Jess and died last year after being diagnosed with a tumor. I was devastated. But at 17 years old he had a cracking life.
Davey is like Jess in a lot of ways. When I first got Davey I kept him in as they'd advised me to and slowly let him out a little bit by bit. He started going out for a while then would come home and all was well. Then one Wednesday I let him out. He didn't return Weds night, or Thurs morning, or Friday. I was gutted. cried myself to sleep for those 3 nights. Saturday morning I was getting ready to go to work when I heard meowing at the back door. I presumed it was one of my neighbours cats who were always in and out of my house. To my surprise Davey ran in, loudly meowing for food. His white patches were filthy. i picked him up and cuddled him so please he came home. I still often wonder where he went for 3 days but as long as I have him back I don't care.
Tinks I got when she was 8 weeks old. as soon as i let her out of the carrier when i got her home she ran straight to davey looking for comfort. He hissed and growled and ran away. She wasn't fussed. It took him quite a while to get used to her. Now he's brill with her. No more hissing or growling. They chase each other around and torment each other, then they cuddle up together and sleep.
As soon as my bedroom light goes off at night and I try to start sleeping they start playing. All I can hear is them running around the house, their bells on their collars tinkling away, Tinks climbing up my bedroom curtains.
Despite the hard work they can be at times I love them so much and wouldnt be without them. My two cats are my world :-)
