Took her to see Jane, the vet, this morning and she agrees, it has grown quite a lot and is actually affecting both sides of her jaw as well as her chin, but she felt, that as long as she was still having quality of life (which I do think she is - she's eating ok and has actually put on weight, and is bright in herself) that we just carry on as normal (ish!) until such time it really impacts her quality of life. There's no infection inside the mouth at all and Jane didnt think it was actually causing her any pain.

Could it be an abcess in the jaw that is recurring after the AB has worn off?

Thanks  :thanks:  No, not an abcess, the x-rays showed a tumorous mass in the jawbone.

Aaw bless her little heart - did the vet say it might grow and waht it would mean if it did?

Yes, she did say it might grow, but at what rate she couldnt say.

11 is not that old, but still, one would think tumours wouldn't grow that quickly in a senior.....

Could it be an abcess in the jaw that is recurring after the AB has worn off?
I had a rabbit with a similar problem, they could stop the process with medication, and it would even get better, temporarily, but it would always come back.

  for BB, and for you

As long as it doesn't cause any discomfort, BB will be alright.
A tumour is a time bomb, unfortunately, but hopefully, she will have some quality time left in her....
How old is BB?

I think BB's tumour is bigger than it was when she had the tooth out - that was only in February, doesnt bode well, if its grown since then  :( Back in Feb, her chin looked a bit lopsided because of the tumour being towards one side, but now it looks like its her whole chin.  She doesnt seem unwell and she's eating fine though.

How are BB and Zeta doing now Gillian?  :Luv:

Thanks for asking  :thanks: - BB seems to be doing well. She's been back again to vets for another check up, and given yet another course of antibiotics just to make sure any infection is well zapped! The tumour in her jaw (sort of on her chin really) makes her mouth look quite lopsided, but she's eating well.

Zeta has good days and bad days, I've noticed she sometimes doesnt want to eat in the mornings, but by the evening she will tuck in. Then she will go for weeks when she eats properly again, morning and evening.

Thanks  :thanks: think I'm going to need some Lacto b with all these antibiotics in her system

but what's up with Zeta?

Zeta is so frail (she's 17) underneath that big persian coat, she had lumps removed last year when she had a balance problem, and now there are more lumps, I think I know what my vet is going to say  :(

Been back to vets, her mouth is looking much better already. Vet gave me more antibiotics (for the runny nose) to take alongside the antirobe she's already having!  So now she's got penicillin (rilexine) as well. Back again in a week. She's eaten ok today though.

She may have picked up a touch of cat flu at the vets!

Bisolven is the thing to help the nose, sachets from the vet and one sachet should be more than enough to clear her nose.

I hope BB and Zeta will get well soon
