Very sad news, we've had to let Bonnie go. We've just got back from the vets, she was ok last night but got up this morning and she was very flat and listless so rushed her through to the main vets in town at 7.30 and the vet said she was passing so we had to pts. We knew that she probably wouldn't have long with us but did think she'd have a bit more time, heartbroken.

I have a cat light on downstairs in utility room from going dark until about 0400 and it started off in honour of Kocka cos we always had a cat light for her but its just a way of life now............wonder if Bonnie would like one...........amazing how much light a 40w bulb gives out when everywhere else is dark.

Poor little lady will take time to settle and maybe she is a bit chilly and obviously loves cuddles,

A bit up and down really, only to be expected though as she's been through so much

She had us awake during the night she has a very loud meow in fact she's meowing quite a bit so I had to get up and sit with her for half an hour at 3am and heat her snuggle pad up. She hasn't eaten much today at all and we were wondering if to take her to the vets again tomorrow but I gave her a bit of chicken late afternoon and she ate a bit of that and then some of the fish we had for tea and she ate quite a bit (for her) so that was good. It seems to me that she's been fed what her human has eaten because she's preferring that to cat food. She's up and about exploring a lot more not weeing as much and it's not pink so hopefully the cystitis is just about cleared up. She's been snuggled up on Steve's knee for the past 2 hours (I wouldn't let him move either

) so keeping fingers crossed. Just waiting to hear from my vets when they've had details from the other vets what bloods she's had done etc in case she needs any checking out such as thyroid, thanks for asking

It's such a shame she's got into this state really, she's still a bit dirty and still has some flea dirt in her fur and matts but I'm just trying to clean her a bit each day as she's so tiny and don't want to upset her.

The vet gave her a shot of Covenia to be on the safe side, and it would also help her eyes as she still has some infection there.

Her hydration levels were fine so that's good

She's bright and perky this morning and followed me in for some breakfast at 6 this morning.

She also had a walk round and jumped up next to me on the sofa last night, only stayed a minute but it's a start.

I noticed though that her wee is sometimes pink so I've booked her into the vets for this evening, she may have a bit of an infection/cystitis and that would also explain the peeing everywhere.

Whatever her health probems I think Bonnie is doing brilliantly. She had a long journey with new people but settled down straight away on arrival, she's met another cat and not been fazed, she's exploring, she's eating, she's drinking, and she's eliminating (albeit not in the right place

).

I think she's one tough cookie with a strong will to survive and given the wonderful home she now has I can see her being around for quite some time to come.

She's bright this morning, eating and drinking fine. She went for a wander last night again and ate a bit of Pepper's food and some of his water but she just goes back to her room then. They've only met briefly so far but there's been no hissing or problems between them. I think that they'll be fine.
She's lovely, she looks so tatty at the minute but that's mainly because she so furless, she'll look a lot better once her fur eventually grows back.

The puppy pad you see there is one that Susie the fosterer gave us to pop in her cat bed on the way home (she didn't need a carrier), Susie said it was from the B & M stores.

We didn't get them from there though because we needed some things from P & H so got some from there yesterday. She's been weeing in her bed apparently but only done one here on the ottoman she's now getting up to do it and this morning did it on the puppy pad so that was fine. Once she's where I can monitor her through the day more though I'll try and sort this out the trouble is I believe she's gone outside all her life and probably spent most of her time out there she's had a hard life I think.

Actually Gill you never necessarily got the wrong chemical as one of my cats has her phosphates levels regularly screened and is a CRF cat and is on a phosphate inhibitor to be mixed with her food.

Before we adopted her I had a long chat to the fosterer as to whether she should really be homed or not and was told that the vet said it probably would be months rather than years so I did consider all those things.
I'll do all I can for her and ask my vet about the crouching to be on the safe side. Before we collected her yesterday Susie to her to the vet to check that she was ok and not dehydrated and the vet was pleased with her, I'm not expecting miracles but we will care for her the best we can for as long as needs

I am afraid the photo of her sitting all hunched up is a classic sign of a CRF cat feeling unwell (possibly too much stomach acid or dehydration).

Do you know what her creatinine/urea levels were at the last blood test Janey? I suspect her condition is, sadly, quite advanced.

Yes potassium would make more sense, that could be it. I agree re the food, I haven't bothered giving her any today tbh and just said to Steve I probably won't try any more. At most she'd only eat a bit mixed with the other food. My vets certainly were pushy about it for Schui.

It is very peculiar how she sits I've never seen that and was intending asking my vet about it I even wondered if her joints were hurting her so shouldn't lay on them. Regarding phospherous levels though aren't they meant to be kept low with CRF? Schui was CRF but hasn't been with us for nearly 2 years now so I'm a bit outdated with info apart from snippets I'm reading on here

With Schui the vet gave me the renal food to try and like Bonnie he was ok with them a few times then refused but my vet said just let him eat what he was wants because he needs food and we don't want muscle wastage and him miserable, so I did just let him eat whatever.

Pepper hasn't met her as yet, she's in the spare bedroom. She did actually follow me out last night peeped her head into the lounge looked at Pepper asleep on the sofa and turned back and went back into the bedroom.

She's just had a poo - in the hall

so will try and see if I can sort that out but it won't matter I'll run round after her

She's so tiny though and so sweet

I've taken some photos so will post them later.

She is fine this morning, I took her some food and sat with her at 4am for half hour ('cos she woke when I was getting hubby off to work). She's drinking and eating well. She wouldn't eat the renal food but mixed with some of what Pepper has she's lapping it up. She's toothless and licks her food. She hasn't been to loo yet though

apart from a wee, she just wees where she's sat. Not sure why though, whether she's been used to going out to wee, or the stress or whether she's incontinent. I think she may be a little bit senile because after she'd weed she rested her forehead in it, she sleep very funny on all fours like she's praying (Will need to get some more puppy pads today). We're going to give her a bit of a clean up this aft, she had flea treatment yesterday so going to give her a gentle brush and trim her fur a bit more and give her a bit of a wipe over.
