A week ago I recieved an email by a friend who knew we were interested in rehoming a cat. The email said that she knew of a family 3 miles outside of where we lived who had a female kitten (same age as Elvis) that they could not keep anymore. I contacted the woman myself to find out what the story was.
She wrote back with her phone number so I called her. I arranged to go out and meet her to talk about the kitten. When we met she told me that she had bought the kitten at the same time as a puppy, however her older cat did not take to the kitten or puppy at all and she decided she couldnt keep the kitten. She was keeping the puppy though as in her eyes and I quote "I can't rightly get rid of the puppy now can I?"
Anyway she said the kitten was a cross breed bengal and that she wanted £100 for her. I said that wasnt possible. (she doesnt look bengal to me either, more tabby)
The woman got back in touch today and explained that no one was willing to pay that much for the kitten and she really needed it rehomed as the older cat was not taking very well to it at all. She offered me the kitten for £60. Again I said no as realistically we couldnt afford that at this time of the year. She phoned me back a couple of hours later and asked me if I would just come and take the kitten. I was delighted.
We went and picked her up today and took her home with us.
She is beautiful. Her name is Miki (pronounced meekee) which my husband says is innuit for small. Elvis was not impressed at all to begin with. There was alot of growling and hissing etc. Shes been here 6 hrs now and they seem to have settled down slightly. Im confident that they will be friendly in time
Shes very shy just now and has hidden behind the sofa. Once she starts coming out of her shell I will post a picture up of her
