Bless him and you for caring for him.

I wondered if he does need an op for his hip, whether you have asked around the local vets to see if any of them had specialised in bone ops. We did this with a cat missing who dragged himself home for 10 days with 2 broken back legs and a broken hip. The regular vet said a specialist but a senior partner of another vet was a bone man. He reviewed the xrays and operated on the cat - although a leg was amputated as the severe break in one of the legs had been healing for 10 days but the hip was easily fixable.

The cat made a full recovery and with the discount probably cost a 1/3rd of the price of a specialist. So that may be worth a try or whether a specialist would take the cat on at "cost" only.

Update 30/12/10: Felek has been to the vets today. His eye looks to of
improved some so a possible chance it can be saved, fingers crossed. The
vet has decided to leave his hip another week to see if it can heal by
itself.. If not he will need reffering to a specialist for an
operation.. We can only have this operation done if we can ...raise enough
funds if it is needed!! We are due back next (5/01/11) to check on

You got to admire Feleks temperment you really have.. Despite how much pain and prodding and poking, he will growl and hidd to high heaven to say leave me alone but doesn't ever lash out..

Thank you Pete x

His eye is bright yellow/gree due to the dye put in by the vet to look for damage. That is the eye severly damaged and bulging slightly that will have to be removed :(

Urgent Appeal for RTA stray cat
« Reply #1 on: December 27, 2010, 13:17:49 PM »
On the 26/12/10 we was handed in a black cat in a terrible state by a lady in Hyson Green area. She had let her dogs out and the cat crawled in.. Upon arriving it was apperent this boy is very badly poorly and injured with possible RTA.. We settled him with IV fluids under the skin, glucos IV, metacam and anti biotics.. He had puss oozing from his eyes, back legs splayed, dehydrated, very thin and a possible fractured/broken jaw..

Today (27/12/10) we took him straight to our vets where our vet confirmed RTA, damage to right eye, his intestines had come ut internaly, broken jaw and possible other internal injuries.. He is now admitted and under going surgery to replace intestines, wire his jaw and anything else surgicaly that is found and possible to repair. We still don't know yet if he will pull through as it depends on what other damage internaly is found. After surgery he is going to need alot of intensive care given to help him recover with alot more vet visits. We are hoping his eye will heal but there is a chance if it doesnt he will have to have it removed at a later date.

This boys operations now and future ongoing treatment to help him recover are going to cost alot of money! Funds are currently dry and we already have outstanding vet bills. If anyone can help towards funds, no matter how little to help us cover costs for this boy to carry on receiving the treatment he needs we would hugely appreciate it.

You can donate eith via paypal to racr@btinternet.com or by cheque postal order made payable to RACR or by paying direct into our bank at any Lloyds TSB branch or bank transfer.. Please message us or email racr@btinternet.com for details.

We have named him Felek which is latin for lucky..
