I would say both too  :) I can't have a dog because Ember has issues with them from when she was a tiny furball

If you have the time, resources and it certainly sounds like you have the heart for two more  ;) why not??

Have to say that if space, time and money allow, I'd go for both too  :) :Luv:

I have a dog as well as the 3 puds...there's still space!! Lol...not much help am I!!

A dog will cause more of a lifestyle change but its worth it.

I love animals so much so would just say get both if that's viable...there are hundreds of both dogs and cats in rescue all looking for a loving home :)

Yeah I acquired the tripod by ringing the Cats Protection and mentioning I was a sucker for a hard luck story! For some strange reason rescue people love it when you say things like that!

She doesn't hog the bed all night btw - she's hilarious in that she sits there till she thinks the human pets have settled down for the night then pootles off downstairs - it's like a parent making sure the kids are asleep in reverse.

I have a Ducha tripod and he takes all my pillow LOL, the other two boys take the rest of the bed!

Have to say I am totally biased and would go for a cat any day  ;D

The work thing I doubt will change much more than it is. Basically I was/am a supply teacher - the work's dried up because of changes in the law and budget cuts and I can't see it getting better in any future. To compromise I'm making ends meet private tutoring - which is short slots of an hour dotted about on an evening, when hubby's around anyway and doing other stuff working from home. Long term we keep hoping for a kid, when I'll pack in working altogether - but doubt that one's ever actually going to happen after umpteen miscarriages (probably the cause behind the acquisition of furry friends to give me something to love and be bossed about by). Won't ever go back to teaching full-time - I'm too expensive, the jobs aren't out there and my health's not up to it these days.

Hubby's actually quite keen on both ideas - he dotes on the cat as much as I do!

Well I'm sure you know what I'm going to say - follow your heart!  Ot how about both?!

Tough choice but the one thing I would say is your work patterns might have changed now to make a dog a viable option, but might they change again in the future to make it difficult to have a dog?

OK, so me and wonky-tripod-boss-mog are now apparently homeowners (we generously let the man-pet pay the mortgage)! Tripod (not really called that... unless she's out of earshot) is a very loved indoor cat, who rules the house with a paw of iron (and hogs the bed... sofa... everywhere really).

I did originally have three cats - Tripod and a pair of kittens, when I moved around, because of being in rented accomodation, the brothers had to go live with my mum as I couldn't find anywhere willing to let me keep three cats. The boys are really happy at mum's and I don't want to unsettle them when they've got half an acre of woodland to play in there. Suki took well to them as kittens - well she edged up to one of them and hoiked her stump onto his back to use as a leg-rest.

Anyway, the dilemma. Now I'm a home owner and don't need to grovel to landlords anymore - I have options of the furry variety! Sooo... part of me is tempted to get a dog since my work patterns have changed and I'm drawn to the idea of coupley walks in the park on an evening (and it would force us to exercise more), but part of me is also drawn to pointy ears and a little miaow - and I'm an eternal sucker for a moggy down on their luck. Indeed part of me is drawn to both but I'd quite like to have some space LEFT in the bed for myself (how a three legged cat can take up 3/4 of a double bed I do not know)! Have factored in holidays etc anyway, already have a friend who will come in cat feeding during time we go away since the tripod reacts so badly to being transported by cars and I couldn't take the sulking of a cattery stay, and if we went the dog route we'd just take it with us as the only places we really go away are with relatives anyway.

Sooo any opinions - head is saying woof, heart is saying purr, female irrationality is saying both!
