Here’s the feline version of the Japanese Kokeshi doll. Kokeshi dolls are traditionally made out of wood with simple lines which make it perfect for making into amigurumi. This pattern includes the instructions for the Kokeshi Cat and for Mei Mei, the Chinese Kitten.
This is an easy pattern that does not use a lot of yarn.
The finished cat measures 5 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide not including tail.
You’ll need:
Worsted Weight yarn in colors of your choice
Polyester fiberfill stuffing
Pair of black safety eyes, size 8 (optional)
Beads for hair ornament
Pipe cleaner for tail (optional)
Yarn needle
Crochet hook size “G”

For crochet: chain, single crochet, decrease, and how to make a magic ring. For embroidery: you need to know chain stitch and lazy daisy stitch.
