I used to have Sainsbury's insurance, wouldnt recommend them for young cats because of it being per condition rather than per year, and also their excesses were extortionate when I left 2 years ago - for oldies it was £125 and then 15% of the claim once it hit a certain amount (when the excess was £50, the ceiling was £350 for you to pay 15%), I am sure for younger cats there is still a % they expect you to pay once it hits a certain amount, but think it is a higher amount. I also changed to AXA
Please spay your cat

Yes, after a year the pot goes back up to £7,000.  It is not per condition.

having brain freeze;
AXA says:
All reasonable costs for Treatment of
Your Pet by a Vet up to £7,000 per
period of insurance.

does this mean every year at renewal it goes back to £7000.
and NOT per condition????

Yes, its the highest level covers £7000 of vets fees cost, for example.
Thats the other thing we have claimed 3 times in the 4 years we have had the insurance, she is a bit accident prone, hence the need to keep some insurance.
Oh what to do

Is Sainsbury policy £7K over the course of the life of the cat or £7K in a single insurance period, renewing every year? What exactly did the accidents involve - insurers are apparently very slippery with, for example, a simple stomach upset needing antibiotics means NO digestive complaint covered.  :(
:'( My beautiful Noah rescued 13/02/09, adopted 11/10/09, taken 11/02/11 :'( You deserved so much more.

I think AXA arer still the cheapest for young cats but for older pedigrees nobody gives a good rate any more.

The problem right now with them seems to be the new company who is handling claims

I am paying now with AXA £12 plus for an 11 yrs old and £11 for a 9 year old and just cancelled the two 17yrs olds policy because they wanted more than my car insurance for each one! Have also had to up the excess to £75 to get it down to these pricesfor the moggies.

Which is bloomin sick and today have had to rush one of them to vets cos he had a fall and already £36 plus out of the new slush fund already!

Also it seems that the vet has not received the money for the metacam I had in september from AXA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know sainsurys very expensive cos did a quote for 8yr old cat and think it came to about £19 for cover equivalent to AXA.

I live rurally and seems my postcode is not good.........sigh, and hardly any cats around here.

Another Axa customer here - I pay just under £12 a month each for my two ten-year olds (I get a tiny discount for insuring more than one cat).

£17 a month is extortionate - is this some kind of "platinum" level cover or something?
You can't change the world by rescuing one cat, but for that one cat you are changing its world.

You prob realise already but be careful if your cat has had any health probs whether a claim has been made or not.  Any pre existing conditions will not be covered by a new policy.  A lot of peeps on here are with Axa although they are currently pretty naff with paperwork due to recent changes in their admin and have also increased premiums dramatically.  Much depends on your post code it seems but £20 per month for a 7 year old is

I know the premium is different depending on where you live, but I pay £14 a month for Alice as a 13 year old with AXA (£7000 a year cover)

Not sure but I think Sainsbury's is underwritten by AXA?

Sainsbury's cat insurance

Hi
Its that time of year when my cat needs her pet insurance to be renewed.
Currently we are with M&S, they have put her insurance from £17 a month to £20, which is a hugh increase.  So I have looked around, one which looks good is Sainsburys, but will they do the same, suck us in for a year and bump it up loads.  My cat is currently 7 so is becoming a senoir I guess.

Has anyone got Sainsburys insurance?
Did they put it up a lot at renewal?

Thank you
