Update-
Back at the vets today condition seems worse and so does he very lethargic and floppy. has been sick and is not eating they have given him an ultrasound and have found a mass there not sure what it is could be a tumor enlarged lymph nodes etc his bloods will be back tomorrow in regards to fiv fib leukemia. his creatine levels were ove 6,000 167 is the top end of normal.

I'm hoping tomorow brings better news.

Toxoplasmosis and Corona both share a lot of the same results plese test for Corona it is devestating when it mutates to FIP - we lost our darling Gem and 3 kittens to FIP and have her soul remaining kitten a Corona carrier

I just had a look at the meds Gwynnie was on - prednisolone (steroid) and two types of antibiotic, Baytril and Antirobe - think they were just trying everything because just werent sure what we were up against.

The only things raised on the biochemestry result were phosphate (which was attributed to her age) and CK (creatine kinase).

Would hip dysplasia affect the front limbs though ?.

I think it would be useful to ask about steroids and a coronovirus test as in Gillian's case to see if antibodies are present.

Also, low potassium levels can cause limb weakness and ataxia but unusual in such a young cat.

Although it isn't a genetic trait as it is in GSDs, it says here that Ragdolls are prone to hip displasia due to their bulk & weight distribution.

I think they have to send blood to the lab to test for corona, but if they are testing for toxo they may well be testing for corona too, but it would be worth asking the vet about it.

I can't remember Gwynnie's blood results I will have a look back and see if I can find them

there were a few things that were raised, but can't remember exactly what.

My Vet has not mentioned anything about that this is the first i have heard of it what is the test for it? what did you cats blood panel look like thanks

This happened with my Gwynnie (when she was about 5 or 6 months old), she started to limp, then lost use completely of both back legs, but was still bright (ish) in herself. My vet also scared me half to death with mention of brain tumours and we also tested for toxo (which was negative). The only positive result we got was with the coronavirus test - she tested positive with fairly high titres of 2,500 - is your vet testing for corona?

She was put on antibiotics and steroids while she was kept in at the vets, and slowly started to regain the use of her legs. We had to continue the steroids for a while after she came home, but she was weaned off them and she recovered fully - she's 3 now. It does sound very similar, but hopefully you will know more when the results are back, its very scarey I know

Its very strange x ray is clear no injury....... the way he moves is very strange the vet thinks it may be neurological? very worrying!

Poor boy, at first I was going to suggest compacted anal glands but if the vet has checked him over, can't be. I hope that they soon find out what's wrong and it's nothing to worry about

I have an 18 month old male ragdoll, a few days ago I started to notice he was walking a few steps the sitting down, like he had an itchy bum, in the last two days he is walking with his rump low to the ground, like a German Shepard, So we rushed him to the vet fearing he had fractured his pelvis upon examination by the vet there was no pain reaction as there would be in a fracture, she took bloods and his total proteins are high as are his globulins with very slightly raised glucose, the vet said the glucose is due to stress and nothing to worry about. they have kept him and are x raying him as we speak I'm hoping they will find something there please cross your fingers and hearts for my best friend

any ideas? or similar stories? help us x
