By three boys have almost gone fully onto the human loo now, but I have been buying "Farmgate" chick crumb from my local (25 miles!) farm feed shop: http://www.gjwtitmuss.co.uk/bocm-chicken-feed/pid2172/cid847/bocm-farmgate-chick-crumbs-acs-20kgs.asp It's now £8.15/20kg and has gone up about a pound in the last year.

When I looked at deliveries it was too expensive; Cheaper to pay the diesel once a month to go get a load of stuff.

Yes, I have to drive out of the town quite a way to get the chick crumb  and if they don't start stocking the Dodson and Horrell stuff again I'm going to go back to litter. As you say you can get it easily and probably get it delivered free with cat food.

I am still struggling to find a cheap source of chick crumbs.  I buy the d&H ones from pets at home but they are £6 for 5kg which doesn't work out much cheaper than WBCL.  If I can't find them cheaper I am thinking of going back to WBCL as buying that online doesn't work out much expensive than buying the chick crumbs from pets at home and I do think it performs better.  My local Jolleyes don't sell chick crumbs any cheaper and I don't live near any farm shops etc. that might sell them as I live in a city.

Just wanted to say I got Heygate chick crumb instead of my usual Dodson and Horrell this month as the place I get it was out of stock. It was guite a bit cheaper only about £9 rather that £12 and it's awful. It's really dusty and has a smell like pollen. Everywhere gets a fine coating of dust in the room where I keep it. So if you are wondering which brand to get don't go for Heygate.

I'm still getting Argo Baby Chick Crumbs for just under £10 for 20kg.  Our mates work on Dudley market and they get it for us at the pet stall there.

Mates have a big van and deliver 3 bags to our door each time.  We just buy em a drink or 2 down the pub instead of delivery charge.  It's WHO ya know  :evillaugh:  Unfortunately they are retiring soon so will need to put in a big order before they do  :shify:

Here's a much earlier thread that popped up as I was googling chick crumb suppliers out of interest.

I've been wincing at the cost of WB too so this seems a very sensible swap.

Make sure the crumbs are un-medicated. I get my chick crumbs from Jollyes, don't know if you've got one near you? They are Dodson & Horrell brand, and around £10/11 for 20kg. You can get most brands of chick crumb, including D&H online, here's one site: http://www.valupets.com/c/4912/chicken-food/chicken-feed.html

No idea about online I'm afraid, but when I used to get it, there was a farm/garden shop who could get it.  Have you anything like that locally that you could try?
