It's funny but in my 1/2 lecture in animal welfare on Monday morning before I had to leave, they showed us pictures side by side titled "pleasure or pain?" there were 2 pictures of horses, both apparently rolling in hay. One was rolling in pleasure, the other in agony with colic. There were some other sad pictures that I won't go into. This pic was taken just after clapton had several teeth removed. He was supposed to be kept in but he was head-butting the flap to get out. He drank some nasty pond water and went to sleep on the wall  :Luv2: (this was about 7 years ago)

Thanks everyone. You know how it is, you think you are OK then every now & then, get a stab in the heart  :'( - I just went to collect some washing and noticed there is still an indent in the place he laid in 'his' bedroom. I will have to change the bed at some point but going to leave it for now  :Luv2:

I'm not religious/superstitious and nor is OH, but we both said it would be nice to know we would see them again (I don't believe we will) OH said "bye Clap, bye Will" this morning before going to work  :shy: - Willow's ashes are in a bedside table in that room as well.  :(

Mark not sure if you are ready but you always had the time for all Clapton and the girls needs so perhaps Clapton is telling his daddies there is another boy who needs the TLC you are so good at

 :shy:

It's not just that. Kylie is really coming out of her shell and I would hate to see her confidence knocked or her bullying another cat. Alice also went after Clapton. I would only do it if there was some harmony. It wouldn't be fair to a cat to bring it into a house where it was put upon by the others.

I never expected it to be be putting the brakes on more cats. Dennis told me about another cat today that is 8 years old and has just had all of his teeth out due to having cat flu as a kitten. He also has IBS. I'm just not sure. I don't want to upset Kylie or Alice and not sure if I have the time to commit.

Mark when the time is right I'm sure you and Dennis will make whatever decision suits you all and your lovely ladies

The pain of loosing them does lessen with time having lost 3 last year and Darling Jazz our JRT somehow we haven't got around to another doggie as Sky and Sunny don't seem to need a third wheel on their world but we still have Jazz's bed in situ as Sky gets upset when we go to move it - Bailey is now sleeping in it

Thanks everyone

There will be no rushing - in fact the more I think about it, the more I don't want any more animals as it is too painful. Also it is me that does everything in the house so I don't want more trays to clean, vet visits etc etc. Although never say never, I don't think I want any more in the foreseeable future. OH even mentioned getting a dog this morning. I nipped that one in the bud  :tired:

Thanks  :)

Not sure if this is the proper place to post, but OH has really surprised me.

I had a nap and when I came down, he was looking at the homing pages  :shify: - He said that the idea of taking in another needy cat appeals and would be what Clapton would have wanted - especially a shy one with health issues. I am keeping out of this. All I have said is that bearing in mind, the care is down to me, forget any cats that need a lot of grooming - ie Persians. Apart from that I am open to the idea. We would have to bear in mind that we have 2 tough old birds in Alice and Kylie. I wouldn't want noses out of joint or Kylie being sidelined again. I don't think this will be something we rush into.

I think that is a good idea and imo it's not so much the right time as the right cat.  Eventually, I'm sure you'll come across a cat that will fit in perfectly with Kylie and Alice and one who will really benefit from what you and Dennis can offer.  You'll know when s/he comes along.

Aw, Mark, I think it's natural to look for something positive or to look to the future after a blow like this. Dennis is only trying to make sense of it in his head. This is the second loss you've suffered in a year and it's bound to have a cumulative effect.  :(

I am sure you'll know when the time is right... although I do remember you saying you didn't want any more cats, so that's worth saying to Dennis when things are less raw.
