He's still quite wobbily. He can run but tends to lean to one side. He has never tried the stairs and I constantly worry as he lives upstairs and I have no stairgate. He can climb on to the bed but does not jump and play like his brother. He will need an indoor home only, if he gets into trouble there is no way he could get out of it apart from being able to crawl under something.
He is good with the litter tray but sometimes lies on his side to pee, and if he panics his co-ordination gets a lot worse.
Sounds very much like Boris -he can't use a tray at all and always lies on his side -we taught him to use puppy training pads -i put some paper towel over then and use a corner of room and he is a very good boy .
Boris can't even jump on a bed but he does manage in his own fashion to do stairs -he hauls himself up and does a rather dramatic come down but after a long hard think I decided he was OK -our stairs do have a gentle bend which helps -keep his claws fairly long they need them to grip -tbh they also need to exercise their muscles as if not they can have further problems. --we do also have a low barrier we can attach to top of our stairs if needed -i had to use this with a rescue cat who was blind and semi paralysed.
Boris was a rescue who came to me at 12 weeks -his CH is probably due to oxygen deficiency rather than FIE
He is nowover 2 and lives with my other cats very happily -excitement and fear and tiredness all make the coordination worse -anaesthesia must be carefully monitored too with CH cats -
does he have head wobbles ? I find larger shaped dry food better with him and use a specially shaped high back bowl for wet so it doesn't escape !
These puddytats take a lot of time and effort to care for but they are amazing and it's truly rewarding for owner and puss.
What is his temperament like ? is he a shy cat even with you ? or is he happy at home-all CH cats seem unsure if in different circumstances and take time to adapt -routine is essential to them it seems
