Hello all

Just to let you know that all test results (bar one) are back and were all fine!

Teoh is getting back to normal at home. Seems far more affectionate to us and totally adores his carry/travel case now!

He got in it to travel last night without any help and was a very good boy for the vet!

Hopefully it was a one off although she says she cannot rule out further seizures so to keep him closely monitored

Thank you all for your support

 :) :) :)

I wonder why they did not xray his skull? Concussion would certainly cause the symptoms you described, so that may be the case

Hi Blackcat

That is a very good point

They said he had 'no obvious injuries' which was of course a relief, but yes, if Teoh's head had been knocked so severely as too send him unconscious, then I agree they should have x-rayed his little skull. We were expecting a big bump on his head if he had knocked himself out but thankfully it all feels fine :)

I love to hear the boys play, but if Teoh's 'collapse' was the result of an accident, it has made me a tad nervous, I am scared stiff to let them play/race unsupervised on the staircase now tbph

Taking Teoh to see the vet and collect further test results tomorrow at 6pm, fingers crossed all will go well for him. Not sure he will be happy leaving his home, he did not much enjoy his night in a cage with other animals, dogs and tortoises for company, they say he was rather stressed, poor love  :(

Baby Howard went shopping today and came back with a nice big tin of Quality Street!!! He says they are for the nice ladies at the vets as they dropped everything to make his big brother well, bless his furry Bengal socks ;)

Thank you Ruth, Helen, Desley and Susanne for the good wishes, Jules and I promise to keep you updated on Teoh's progress. Thank you all for thinking of him  :thanks:

Love from Debs x

Whilst I was worried about Debs being stressed, it really brought it into context how much I love Teoh...picking him up from the vets (and him being healthy) was such a relief  :Luv:

I'm back at my flat now.....and cant sleep after all the stress.

Yes we got Teoh back on Saturday, and he seems fine...and strangely enough more friendly after the 'incident'

Personally I think he knocked himself out, although I'm mightily glad I didn't find him in that sort of distressed/unconcious state and covered in his own poo.

Whilst I was worried about Debs being stressed, it really brought it into context how much I love Teoh...picking him up from the vets (and him being healthy) was such a relief  :Luv:

Lets hope it was a one off  :)

phew! well that's a relief! I wonder why they did not xray his skull? Concussion would certainly cause the symptoms you described, so that may be the case. In which case the 'ticklish' spine should sort itself once he gets past the concussion. Fingers crossed. Such a tiny wee babe will hopefully not have fallen hard enough to cause more serious head injuries ...  ;D

Thank you everybody

Its been a very upsetting 24 hours but Teoh is back home now

He has had many tests and x-rays and seems well again luckily

The vet thought at first he had eaten something like rat poison and ran blood tests

All clear and his chest scan/x-ray is clear also  :)

We have been told to 'monitor' him for the weekend and take him back into the vets on Tuesday for another examination and results of further tests which had to be sent away

he is a tad weedy and has all his fur missing on his neck and leg  :(

we think the most likely senario is that whilst he was 'racing' howard on the staircase, he tripped and fell down the stairs and knocked himself out on the concrete wall ending in a episode of trauma

He keeps twitching down his back though so we cannot rule out further episodes of seizures and need to watch him closely, poor baby

I really thought we were going to lose Teoh yesterday, he looked at deaths door, so amazed and happy to have our number one boy home again

Howard hissed like mad when he got back, maybe the smell was different

Hoping its a one off accident and not a medical problem

 xxx

Jules here...some bad news im afraid.

Teoh had some sort of 'fit' this afternoon   :(

Luckily enough Debs had to go home sick this afternoon, she called me to tell me that she had just found Teoh at the foot of the stairs....

He was led on his side, tongue hanging out, eyes rolled back and the poor mite had also lost control of his bowels

She quickly took him to the vets (he was hardly breathing) and they put him in an oxygen box and inserted a drip.

Sounds like he is coming around, but they are doing further tests and keeping him in overnight.

Fingers crossed peeps   :(

:thanks: Jules.  Do you know wher Debs got the pole from?  I'm going to have a go at making one  :wow:

Jules here on Debs lappy...

Got the pole from B&Q....it cost about £20 with all the fixings. It was 2.4m long (37mm dia IIRC) and I cut it down to size

Teoh is seriously hogging the shelf, so I guess another is in order; I think 1.1metre long is a tad too small for them both when they are fully grown  :innocent:

I am so glad Jules replied to that as I couldn't take any credit for such a FANTASTIC shelf!!!

It was all his idea and hard work

 :Luv: :Luv2: :Luv:

All I did was send the proto-type crashing to the floor, oops   :naughty:

The boys have been sitting up there since I got home

Hmmmm, yep they do look cosy...

I must control the temptation to get up there with them again  ;)

That was my handywork  :innocent:

Its an Ikea 'Lack' shelf...cost about £20...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120218449873&ih=002&category=141182&ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1

We went to a local shop that sells faux fur and fitted it with a staple gun. then fixed the shelf to the wall using plugs and screws.

Unfortunatley Teoh is a right fat lad now (joking) and their combined weight saw the shelf slightly pull off the wall....before Debs demolished it completely

The shelf is now fixed to the wall with the biggest (heavy load) Rawlbolts the shelf could accommodate (about £6) Debs bought the pole and fixings (about £20)..... the shelf isn't going to fall down again (even if Debs does decide to go mountaineering again)  :evillaugh:

Cat milk is classed as a "food" rather than a drink therefore it should only be given as a treat .... once or twice a week at the most.

Wow!!! Just for info, dry food is more likely to keep the weight on than wet food is, so I would be limiting the dry, not the wet.

Hello Desley

Thank you!

Diet has just been re-arranged, didn't know that so very much appreciated, Howard is very slender whereas Teoh is a little portly, bless!

But hopefully Teoh will soon be a slimmer boy for his new regime  :evillaugh:

The boys like a treat of whiskers cat milk, how often would you say is best for them to have that to avoid weight gain?

They really adore it!  :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:

Thank you all

Teoh is a tad on the large size so wet food has been limited to just brekkie now, hopefully he will stop snoozing so much!

Already he is far more playful like his brother Howard

Today, the boys had a treat...

Jules has put their shelf back up after it fell down as I swang off it while drunk

It is now reinforced with a shiny metal pole!!! Plus rawl bolts!!!

Here are the boys taking a look at their new observation station

Its so high up they love it  :Luv2:

They are stock piling mice up there already  ;D

Well it's certainly not normal for my two to sleep all day!  ;D  Quite the opposite.  But it is funny weather at the moment and they're maybe just feeling lazy today!  For young Bengals I'd say it's not normal if they are like that every day, but as long as they're not sleeping all the time and do show interest in play generally, then I don't think there's anything to worry about.  I do actually envy you in a way.  I just dont' know what it's like to have cats that sleep all day since both of mine are real livewires.  I love them like that but there are times when I wish they would give me some peace and go and lie down!

They are both very stunning and look happy and healthy to me  ;D

I didn't think it was as normal for Bengals as moggies, due to their high energy levels, but as long as they aren't getting fat, they are obviously getting enough exercise.

:evillaugh: Lexy can sleep 18-20 hours of the day. I believe its perfectly normal. Cats live long because they sleep so much.

Oh thank you Ruth

That has really put my mind at rest

I was worried that they might be sleeping because they were bored or not happy babies

I guess I have a lot to learn about cats  :thanks:

That is very good news because at this rate they will live til they are 110 years old

So will Lexy  ;) :)

Hi Debs,

How are the two gorgeous boys?

Hi Sam

Thank you for asking

The boys are growing up big and fast, they are like two peas in a pod today!

Although Howard is a lot darker than Teoh, he sometimes looks black as certain angles

They have totally different personalities too which is a nice contrast

Being new to owning cats may I ask you please?

Is it normal for them to sleep all day?

They have not shifted from the sofa today  :tired:

I do hope this is normal, I am a little bit worried in case this is not healthy for them
