Rob, I'd go for a double height or slopping run with a cat flap in the window then a ramp from that down to floor level. Start messing about with brickwork and you could be in for structural issues like damp or rot in the future.

Archie is funny with ours. He lies in the tunnel to see what is going on outside and his little legs poke through the kitchen flap :evillaugh:

looks great Rob - forgot to say the house looks nice too!

And my question is: are you a keen gardener, hOrZa? Because if you are, you have a wonderfully blank canvas there!

My parents had a catflap size hole kept clear while building their conservatory.  I don't know about the building size sorry but even my cats were able to escape through the flap and they've never seen a catflap before  :tired:

If you have multiple cats beware that one could decide to sit in the gap and block the entrance/exit - That's Blue's favourite trick  :evillaugh:

are you having the run next to the house, you could put a flap in one of the windows and have a ramp down

I have a cat flap in a double-glazed French window and a ramp down.  You'd just need a longer ramp, but it could certainly be done.

We have had a cat flap in the outside wall for nearly ten years and do not get any problems.

Obviously a few bricks had to be removed and a bit of concrete added to smooth things off.

The cats are fine with it as well ;D

I do have a friend with a run at the end of her garden but it involves carrying cats to and from the run which might not be what you had in mind!

I had planned to put it from the bedroom at the right of the picture with a connecting run across to the grass section in front, plus making the connecting run collapsible so that I can move it for access and gardening.

this is the bungalow, and my main worry was how the cats would deal with a tunnel as opposed to a basic flap, can I add all my cats use hooded trays with flaps so don't envisage any problems there.

Rob, I've seen it, however, it is huge work to get it done. Depends on the fabric of the house, insulation barrier you might be breaking then need to make good. A through tunnel (two flaps - one inside and another outside) is great that helps to break an draughts.  I would imagine it would be worth it though to make their lives a little more fun.

Cat flaps through walls?

bit of advice please,

I'm in the process of moving and after initially planning to stay with flats in Gateshead I have done a 180° turn and buying a bungalow back in hillbilly land :) and plan to install a run in the garden (catproofing is not an option :( ) now the advice, Does anyone here have there cat flap in an outside wall? if so how does that work? and did you get any problems?

TIA
