I never really know what to say in these sad times so hadn't said anything but did think about you Gillian when I was reading what was happening :(

I just wanted to say how wonderful it was of Sam to send you a rainbow :)

Sorry not been around lately - thanks again for your messages  :thanks: Losing Sam knocked me for six and I was just starting to feel human again - but I picked up his ashes today  :'( . I also stupidly looked through all my photos of him - did manage a little smile at the infamous 'Tomato face' photo that Mary posted, but ended up in bits again.

Something amazing though - I brought his ashes home early evening and tonight I was sitting watching telly, it was about 8.45pm and it had been raining. I happened to look out the window and there was this wonderful double rainbow, I couldnt believe it, unusual to see a rainbow so late, but there had been sun, then cloud, then rain, then a bit of late sun breaking through - and this beautiful double rainbow, one part slowly faded, but the single rainbow then became stronger and made a complete arch  :wow: - it made me cry again of course, but it just felt so perfect too - the fact that his ashes had come home and then that same evening - the rainbow.

An emotional day, I can't say much more at the moment, just thanks too, for the pm's, I will reply, just not quite back in action yet  :(

Thanks everyone  :thanks: I'm still in shock it all happened so quickly, I can't believe he's gone. He was always there on the worktop (in my way!) I wish he was still there in my way. His eyes used to follow me round the kitchen waiting for that moment when I'd turn and notice him and he'd put a paw out to touch if if I was within reach - I can't bear it, he's been in my life for nearly 13 years (he was born on christmas eve 1997) - from 4 months old. I want to stop crying my head hurts from crying. I tried to hold it in when I went to see mum this afternoon - failed of course, I feel so guilty too, I've been so wrapped up in the foster cats lately - Chico in particular, and I missed precious time with my lovely Sam.  :'(

:( Only just seen this and I have tears rolling down my face, so sorry. I know it's easy to say but you should not feel guilty - I know our darling furbabies know how much we love them, they can sense things in so many more ways than mere humans can! I am sure too that Sam loved you for more than just the number of minutes you spent with him, I am sure he could sense that the foster cats arrived unsettled but soon come to feel as safe and contented as he did.
:'( My beautiful Noah rescued 13/02/09, adopted 11/10/09, taken 11/02/11 :'( You deserved so much more.

I can only repeat what everyone has already said - we all feel for you and you know it was the right thing to do and don't feel guilty about spending time with Chico - Sam knew how much you loved him and cared for him.

Hope he's met up with Gypsy on the Bridge

Sam you may be gone from this Earth but you will never be forgotten darling.  :Luv2:

I am so sorry to hear this, I had truly hoped when I read it on Fri that he would just need fluid draining and would bounce back like last time. Please dont feel guilty about spending time with the fosters though, he knew how loved he was. RIP little one.

So very sorry to hear this

----------------------------------------

They say memories are golden, well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories, I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you, a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same.
But as we are called one by one, the chain will link again.

Please try don't beat yourself up Gillian.  It does no one any good   Whose to say, if you had time to dither, that you may have made the wrong choice and prolonged the inevitable?  There is no way of knowing what might have been  :(  Hopefully Sam will send you a sign to confirm what I think we all know; that it was his time and he was grateful you were there for him.  I'm in bits for you Gillian  :'( :'( :'(
