Cleaning dirty bums.....

I use a tissue or wet rag for cartman who is very lazy when  to comes down to cleaning his rear end  as he seems to wait after using the litter tray. He really hates it thought so to try and reduce the number of times we have to do this we try and clip the fluffly excess hair on his rear end, although he hates having this done too poor lad

I used Tushy Wipes (basically animal baby wipes!) from PAH with Baz, when he had a bout of diarrhoea - and then I'd have to catch him to clean his bum for him before he tried to clean it himself  They're quite good but don't really work with dried in mess, you'd probably still need warm water and a cloth in that situation.

  poor thing...isnt it weird how they can put on weight....without really noticing it!..My cusins cat is the same and they still keep feeding her p..its so sad...

I am sure that you are doing the absolute best for the dear girl...and im sure she will be back in shape in no time....Summer is hard as its so hot....but once the autumn arrives she will be a lot more energetic

She's not huge uge - just about 1kg overweight.  Just weighed her now and she has lost 180g in a week.  More than what I have done.....  She was never very good at cleaning herself when she was a skinny minny but can't remember her smelling as bad!  Anyway, off to play to lose a bit more weight!

I find a soft flannel and a jug of warm water best, use a drip of shampoo to help degrease. Theres lots of pet shampoos (avoid cheap johnson bob martin etc and ones with tea tree) or baby shampoo does the job.
After a few daily washes she should smell better, remember to do the inside of the tail too where it rests on her botty
Fat cats do seem to lose the will to wash, cant blame them really

She had her fur clipped at the vets last week - it's very short in that area and she still manages to make herself smelly!   I even had a look earlier and it hasn't really grown back much either.

Will have a look for some baby wipes when out and about and see if that does the trick. 

Tried to weigh her today to see if she has lost any weight but she wasn't having any of it!  This means I'm going to have to get on the scales and then weigh her with me.

I don't have this problem myself (well, I mean the boys don't!) but when Riley had a runny bum in the past and kept treading in it ( ) baby wipes were my salvation. They're also great for getting fresh marks out of carpets, great for when I spill baked beans down my front minutes before I leave for work, dusting skirting boards/windowsills - everything really!

I use huggies as that's what my sister uses for her baby and they're much better than other brands at poo wiping   You can normally get them for £1 ish a pack in cheapie shops rather than £2.50 or whatever the RRP is.

As Sky seems incapable of cleaning herself properly after going to the loo she is going to need some help with it.....

So, does anyone else do this and if so what's the best way to do it - kind of hoping that water and a cloth will be enough?   I don't think not doing it is an option as she keeps getting bits dried into her fur and consequently she smells quite a bit.

Hopefully when she loses her excess weight she will be more able to reach - though I'm not convinced on this as she seems to be choosing not to clean herself.
