Noah adores his furminator, when I get it out he always rubs his cheek on it.  :Luv2:
:'( My beautiful Noah rescued 13/02/09, adopted 11/10/09, taken 11/02/11 :'( You deserved so much more.

I don't use mine often but when I do the amount of fur you get out is unbelievable, you can get them quite cheaply at Amazon.

furminators are fantasic! Its amazing how much hair you get using them - and how much softer the cats coats are. Plus my cats love it.
Just be careful where you put the hair, as I left it on the coffee table and turned my head for a moment, to then find it all over the carpet. My kitties also like to eat it

For those who have them are furminators worth getting?

I've though about getting one for Hobbes as although he is officially shorthaired he's actually more "medium haired", especially on his tummy which is quite fluffy (one of his brothers was long haired so obviously a long hair gene in there somewhere ). His brush does get out quite a lot of hair but he still sheds like crazy.

 :thanks:

We brought a new brush at the weekend, and I was actually terrified at the amount of hair that came off Jess, I thought I had a third cat

He loved it though, we did also get some skin - dandruff like bits.

Milo hardly produced anything!

I have been doing all mine too - Stevie absolutely loves it , Giz not so much!

I use a normal brush , then furminate then brush again to get all the strays!

It reminded me too, been meaning to do it for ages as they are both shedding like it's going out of fashion! I made an effort this morning, first on Chilli. They've never been terribly keen but that's my own fault for being far too sporadic about it. She kept wandering off as she wasn't that keen but never bites but every time I called to her she came back, only to realise her mistake :evillaugh: Didn't get anywhere near enough excess off her coat but it's a start!

Dave on the other hand, I got about 4 sweeps of the brush and he's had enough and stomped off in a right huff :evillaugh: I think I'll try now, he's snoozing on the ironing board :shify:

You inspired me to use the furminator for the first time in ages, Lukey was literally writhing around on the floor purring and air paddling the whole time he was being furminated.  Here's 5 minutes worth of Lu's fur - Riley is wondering if it is a new baby brother  :evillaugh:

Thai & Zubin love a good ole brush - If I pick the brush up Zubin is there on my lap straight away. however Zebedee, i have to follow him round until he is ready then he will settle, and he does love it, even though he wont show it. Also when I am brushing zeb, zubi gets so jelous and starts being naughty.

Yes a good reminder thanks. Hobbes isn't too bad now but I've had to really work on him to let me brush him, even though I've had him since he was a kitten. Dylan on the other hand would happily have stood all day and let me brush him, he was such a good boy  :Luv2:

mine are brushed when ever they want  it - keeps hair of the furniture and also helps prevent hairballs.

At the moment we only have a soft brush that isn't that good.

Jess will tolerate being brushed, Milo hates it and Will try to bite it.

Saying that last night Hubby brushed them both and for the first time Milo laid out on the patio legs akimbo being brushed it was hilarious hubby was talking to him a hairdresser

I've found more hair sometimes comes off shorthaired than longhaired cats
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

Thanks for the reminder  :)

Poot is slowly coming round to the idea of grooming, he hated it at first and used to attack my hand and the brush whenever I went near him, but he's gradually desensitising to it now  :)

Max on the other hand loved it, I could have made a cusion with the amount of fur I used to get off him  :Luv2:

I have allways brush Ai chan and short fur cats I have had in the past.
Keeps furballs from coming as much and makes them feel better because all that lose fur must make them a bit uncomfortable

Can I pick up on something I've noticed in the first picture ...
The bottle on the left hand side with the blue trigger, is it Antibacterial cleaner ?
If it is, check on the back that it isnt one of the ones that shouldnt be used around cats

Alot of people dont bother grroming short haired cats because they think they dont need it fur doesnt tangle. Ok so fur doesnt doesnt tabgle but they still shed and need there coats keeping in good condition..

Short haried cats are brished weekly in this house and just look what you get from grroming once a week:

After a standard brush:

Then after I furminate:

All that for a weeks worth of grooming!!

After:
