You can watch neutering procedures on youtube, very educational! They do look smaller after surgery as they are both removed, the hair is shaved there and on a leg. Everything pops back so need for anything to close up

Just asking advice for a friend.....

How would someone who does not qualify for benefits go about getting a neutering voucher? If someone was feeding a local stray would that qualify?
Also...for a male cat woud there be visible signs of the neutering? I don't think they actually remove the testicles completely do they? So, it might not be obvious???

Yes they would, say you are feeding a stray who is entire.  I am  feeding a semi feral (well he has been alone for so long, he is wary and hisses, and lashes out) I am getting a voucher for him, and also there is a tabby boy, know he has a home (I am pretty sure) and he also has his nuts, so I am getting one for him too.  Just call CPL. I dialed 03000 12 12 12 .

They just open the testicle, snip something (can't remember the name) and then use a bit of glue, they dont even have stitches - unless they have an undescended testicle, they are trickier. IT does take up to 6 weeks for them to stop producing sperm though.

I *think* the vet must remove the testicles completely, otherwise Toms would still produce testosterone and have all the same urges to fight and mate. Human vasectomies are different.

A friend of mine has recently taken in a stray female who gave birth to 4 kittens nearly 2 weeks ago!!! She's not on benefits but( she does have 4 kids, a Staffy and a rabbit!) CP have said because of her 'responsible attitude' she will be allowed vouchers for the lot when the time comes! Your friend will have to ring the main helpline i believe. Good luck!

I heard about another nightmare yesterday-in the next street to this. A lady has 2 cats of her own and started feeding a stray female, who eventually brought her 4 kittens!! She's since had another litter-none of them neutered-aaaaargh!!!!! I'm not sure about her own 2 but there's at least 8 un-neutered cats in her garden!!!!!! I've given her CP's number, hoping they can help!

I would try the Cats Protection first, they seem to have updated the site recently - in the past it used to imply that only those on certain benefits were eligible but now it seems to be much more focused on getting cats neutered, in all different circumstances.
