Well, one of those is the leading feline resource sites in the UK, so I'm going with it's safe, I think. Blimey, that was hard work to figure out!

(Thanks peeps! :))

Oh yes, I see.  That's confuzzling  :scared:

It isn't on these lists of poisonous/potentially harmful plants either:

The list I put on before your link says a Cast Iron plant is safe; which is what an Aspidistra is apparently.....

Right. So on the other lists it's wrong then? I asked the lady in the shop and she said she'd had one of these plants for years and her cats had no interest in it. Therein lies the problem, Darwin is interested in everything so I guess that's a no go for me. Wish all the lists would make up their minds!

Will do, Mark.

I can't see aspidistra on the Cat Fanciers' Association list of safe plants.  There's something called Aspidium falcatum, but that's a type of holly  :shify:
Erm, I mean a type of fern. Was momentarily distracted by cat's bum in face

According to this, aspidistra is a member of the lily family, so I'd avoid it...

Might be worth telling the people in the CP shop as well  :scared:
DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Yucca plants are ok as far as I know (based on the fact they put yucca extract in a lot of cat foods and I had a cat as a child who kept eating my Mum's yucca plant for years and was absolutely fine) although you'd need to double check.

Can anyone see Aspidistra on the lists? They're selling some at the local CP shop and I was pondering buying one, but won't if they aren't safe.

yes  it is poisonus  aka the cast iron plant

A "friendly" list is probably handier than checking a "no" list.

I didn't know until a few years ago that christmas plants are poisonous to cats.  :scared:

I am re-vamping my conservatory , and would like to put a couple of karge leafy plants inb there - I was hoping some of you might have some ideas as of course they must be cat safe (as Jerry is sure to want a nibble!)

Thanks! ;D
