Other cats coming in the garden

I have to admit, it doesn't bother me picking up cat poo off the garden. I think it's still something I'll accept when my nephew is old enough to toddle in the back yard too.

The part that bothers me about "cat visitors" is the emotional stress on the resident cats. Lilly next door is a stunning girl, but very bossy and although three out of our four seem to gauge the situation well, Astryd is a bit freaked out by her. (Odd, seeing as all she needs to do is give her an "I'm older than you" swipe.)

Ginger Cat can cause no end of problems when he decides to let himself in too. Hence sorting out a microchip cat flap - at least they'll feel safe in their own house.

Personally I won't do either because my cats would possibly end cut their paws too and I can't help but feel that's awfully cruel.

I'm surprised that our visitor hasn't impaled itself onto the willow screening we already have up, I don't want the visiting cat to hurt itself I just don't want it in my garden.

Like Lottie at the weekend we also came across cat deposits in the flower beds and the grass and its not our boys as they both use litter trays, I don't relish picking up another cats mess.

As far as I am aware anything that lacerates (ie broken glass, barbed wire etc) is illegal but prikka strips do not lacerate so they are legal.

Why cant it be accepted that cats roam, i have neighbours cats and plenty of toms peeing everywhere which inturn upsets dexter and causes more grief within my group. Instead of trying to move the problem on by being mean i try to help them.

Because I am sick and fed up of my young plants/veg being dug up by the cat a few doors down who uses my garden (mainly the border and the vegetable patch) as a toilet and I don't find it particularly pleasant coming across deposits in the soil when planting new plants. I am going to be even more sick of the bloomin cat when Findlay can crawl or walk as it means everytime I want to let him play in the garden I will have to go on poo patrol first so he isn't crawling across the grass and finding a deposit. This may not bother you in the slightest if it was happening in your garden but it certainly bothers me!!

Ditto - cats that are used to going in a garden will probably jump up on the fence and won't realise until their paws are lacerated

Cant see much difference to prick sheets.

We have a similar problem and I have been either throwing water or turning the hose on full at the cat but as that only works if I see it I am looking at a combination of both of the links below to keep cats out of our garden as catproofing is not an option for us.

Cats are free roaming under the law...........what would you do in your neughbours situation?

I don't know to be honest, but I just feel really protective towards my boys I particually don't want Jess to get stressed out by a visitor.

What was funny was after Milo had seen it off, he was still puffed up, Jess slaunted into the garden (he'd been eating his dinner) and went up to Milo and started licking his head

I had a similar situation the other day - a black and white cat decided to leap over my gate to the side of my garden and make his/her way up my garden - he reckoned without my Lace though  my goodness, she suddenly leapt into action and chased this cat at 90 miles an hour right up the top of the garden (about 100ft long) - black and white leapt onto the top fence and Lacie came back down the garden with a smug look on her face - like ok I've seen that one off, bring on the next one LOL!

We are starting to have a problem with a neighbours cat coming into our garden. Its a lovely silver and white tabby and is very cute, but I won't have my boys upset.

Last week there was an unknown cat was in the garden, the boys saw it but I went in the garden and had a hiss and spit at it but it wouldn't go, I ended up throwing a glass of water over it.

Friday night it was back this time I wasn't fast enough with getting out and stopping the boys, Milo legged it the length of the garden with my chasing him.  Milo (aka tiny cat) managed to double in size and crab over to it, tabby was horrified and stood its ground at this point I thought yikes this is going to hurt if I have to get between them.

The both had a spit at each other and then the tabby threw himself up the fence back to its own garden, I heard the owners  in the garden (there garden backs onto ours) and it was on the tip of my tongue to shout at them.

Most of our garden is cat proofed, but tabby cat comes over our back gate and volts over the cat proofing, so I really don't know how to deter it.
