Mr t the mystery man  Gooey was meant to have a goitre in his neck but his bloods also showed as normal! Iv read it can happen that they are hyper t but bloods show normal, a second test is enough to pick it up which i think gooey shall be having on his next trip.
Fingers crossed for friday

Have you tried the little tins of chicken like applaws/encore? If he likes them there are complete versions in tesco. Simon loved these when he was poorly, all the purpose made 'poorly cat diets' didnt appeal to him, it was finger fed of course  ;)

Funnily enough, I bought 3 little "Gourmet pearl" meals today - which are BIG treats ....  While I was taking them out of the shopping bag, Sir arrived in the kitchen and .... ate Chloe's food!  Considering he cant see, I will give him the benefit of the doubt ... at least he ate.

Hes also had several normal litter tray trips and seems a bit brighter - still nothing like his normal appetite but little and often is no bad thing!  He also appeared in the kitchen when we had our lunch, as he usually does (hasn't done that since Saturday).  He had a teeny lick of meatball gravy from the tip of my finger (no more - its not really kitty food, I know!) and that satisfied him that really kitty-food was a better choice.

So we are keeping our fingers (and Chloe's paws) crossed that he continues to feel a little better :)

Glad that the bloods didn't show anything of concern, and that it is just old age catching up with him. Did the vet check his mouth?

Yep - he checked his mouth!  He could do with a descale (makes him sound like my kettle) but no damaged or missing teeth :)

Friday will be the time to decide exactly what and does not need doing - at the moment we dont want to do anything too invasive until we know exactly whats going on :)

Hes still here :)

& this morning hes managed a small breakfast of chicken.  He hadnt eaten anything for nearly 24 hours - and thats not the Mr T we know.  I ended up putting a saucer of chicken next to him on the sofa and he ate the lot.

Hes still very subdued - spent the night in bed with me - tucked up close.

Now, hes having a wash on our sofa ....

Thanks so much, everyone for your concern and support - Hopefully I will know more after Friday

So glad all is well with the blood tests,   are you sure Mr T wasnt out partying at the weekend ?,  he may have a hangover

I think its more likely hes sulking as he didn't have any of the copious amounts of Mead that his Mum (me) drank whilst celebrating Beltane !  ;)

Well I have Mr Ts blood results

And basically its "Mr T - man of mystery!!"

Our vet said he had felt an enlarged thyroid - but bloods show his thyroid levels are normal

There is nothing showing that indicates, at the moment, any liver, kidney or heart problems.

He did have a slightly fast heart, but that could simply have been the stress of being at the vet

So .....

Stage two will be to take a sterile urine sample and for Mr T to spend a day at the vet, having various checks including his blood pressure done.  That is likely to be Friday.  Ive to pick up a pee-pot or two and book and appointment tomorrow

Mr T is currently having a kip on my bed - hes still very subdued  - whether that is illness or having been poked and prodded by strangers he cant see or hear is hard to tell!

Obviously, if there is any deterioration between now and Friday its straight back to the vet.

I will keep you all posted

& Mr T says "I iz fedd upz! "

I am so very pleased,,,,,,,did they check his BP?

If its just old age, then likely his hearing and sight will only get any worse very very gradually and so pleased his retinas are OK.

Sasa sends all her love and squidge of squirty cream  ;D

Looking forward to Mr T being around for ages yet

Nothing like a trip to the vet to scare a cat into good health I always say :wow: !!! So glad to hear he is not yet terminal. What would our kitties do for their social lives if Mr T wandered off to that great disco in the sky? :scared:

Well ... WE are home so for the time being its a stay of "execution ..."

No real ideas as yet ... and I'm amazed how much blood you can take out of  a cat without him or her keeling over.  Squeamish Mummy didn't do as well as the patient ..... :shy: :-[

We are now waiting for blood results - possibly late today - maybe tomorrow.

Mr T has an increased heart rate - but considering we had a bus journey plus  HUGE dog in the waiting room ....

I cant praise our vet highly enough though - hes a no mucking about sort of man.

We do know now Mr T has little or no hearing and very poor eyesight - thankfully not detached retinas - probably his eyesight is simply old age . . .

So ... I still have my my boy ... :Luv2: :Luv: :Luv2:

He is now brighter than hes been for the last couple of days despite having his chest shaved for bloods, having soiled himself all done my front while they did it and an overdose for both of us of Feliway!

My purse is somewhat lighter too - but thats the way it goes  :tired:

Watch this space for updates and thanks for all those Kitty-vibes  :thanks:

Hi

Sorry to hear Mr T is not doing so well.

If your vets do not do home visits or want you to go to the surgery - I believe that I live near you and have transport.

If you would like me to drive you and Mr T - if that would help just let me know.

Thanks everyone - Hes no worse, but no better.

Im going to book him a vet visit tomorrow.  Bit traumatic as it means a bus journey for him ...  one reason Im very reluctant but I dont think our vet does home visits  - I will check that though when I phone.  I really dont want to cause him any unecessary distress.  Or have to subject him to complete strangers pulling him about.

Hes very subdued - eating a bit, drinking a bit and using his tray but not himself at all.  And VERY quiet .....  :'(

Back end has gone very wobbly, too

I will obviously keep you posted.
