sorry to hear this T hope its not another cupboard cat situation, they still haunt me
Dawn have you got a fly on my wall, cupboard is exactly what they are. We have given the poor cat a new name Lily. Lily and her daughter born last May lived together with huge overweight dog, Lilys daughter has litter of kittens just over 4 weeks, Lily gave birth on Thursday and became very aggressive now we know she was protecting her newborns but the owner locked her in a cupboard to protect her kids and the other kittens. Lily went ballistic and trashed the cupboard, owner padded cupboard with cardboard and left kittens on newspaper, Lily gave birth to a 5th kitten who we believe froze to death, owner told us she killed it, no way Lily loves her babies. We got her out and settled her at the Inn on Friday night.
Saturday morning she had not eaten or used tray and was just motionless so off to vets, vet emptied her bladder manually gave her injections of antibiotics, metacam and vitamins, Julie managed to spoon feed small amount of ad into her. She is riddled with fleas but vet not happy for us to attempt to treat before Mon/Tues. One of kittens was not doing well and I had gut feeling he wasnt going to make it.
When Claire and Debbie got back from Pets at Home Claire came to me and said she could see clear mucus on him, somehow I guessed cleft palette and Claire brought him into house for me to check, he had no roof of mouth whatsoever, so out of hours call out for pts , I called him Michael.
This morning Lily is a little more settled and has eaten her dry food overnight, her 3 surviving kittens seem to be feeding well.
Lily is just 2 years old, incredibly she had her 2nd litter just before Christmas and now she has litter NO. 3, she`ll not be having anymore. Someone is bound to ask what colour, Lily is longhaired black and all her babies are black.
Pets at Home not sure of exact figures but think ladies raised £34 and collected 10 boxes of sachets and some collars and dog treats??? Big thanks to Claire, Debbie and Sarah.
