We do have a number of rugs, which I ship off to Pilgrim Payne a couple of times a year.
Christine, is that just for London, I want our rug cleaned???

http://www.pilgrimpayne.co.uk/ From its website: "Our client base extends across London, the south east of England, and the M40, M3 and M4 corridors."

I think this covers you, Dawn?  PP is great!

We've floating wood floors, cork and tiles throughout, simply because it's easier to keep clean.  Having gone that route, I won't be going back to carpet anywhere: I've seen the water after cleaning each few days / week.  :shify:

Blip does scratch the rugs from time to time but only when she's frustrated or excited about something.

Hard floors are going to be a better bet with the changing climate too...

Laminate can be hilarious... our old house had it - Suki came flying down the stairs full pelt, went to corner to come into the lounge proper... had some traction control issues and skidded straight into the front door.

She was fine, apart from heavily wounded pride made worse by all the humans sitting there laughing at her.

Milo only scrapes the carpet outside my room but i have plastic nailed to the floor which helps. Looks stupid though. I loved it when we lived in our old house. We had wooden floors and he ried scraping that for a week then gave up! Those were the days of a full nights sleep....

My whole flat is fully carpetted but I've never any any bother with my 2 boys scraping at it - my furniture on the other hand is a different matter.  Ollie has shredded my drawers in the bedroom and is now working on the bed.  They scraped at my couches too.  And they do all this despite the fact that I have scratch posts right next to everything they try to demolish.

Poot is another carpet scratcher, thankfully our lounge carpet is very old so the Landlord hopefully won't say anything  :shify: but lets just say I've had to shave the carpet a few times to get rid of bobbly bits he's shredded  :evillaugh:

Max was a nightmare too, he used to go for carpet by the doors and managed a couple of times to ruck the carpet up so we couldnt get in  :evillaugh:

Count yourself lucky they haven't peed on it as well  :evillaugh:

Willow ruined £1000s of carpeting here  :Luv2:

we've only got carpet on the stairs, Star is always scrabbling around it - I suppose if she is marking the stairs are a pretty good place!

I brought home 2 carpet squares from work which were donated  :evillaugh:

Since we've had them the boys have scratched them to bits, they were from John Lewis so were good quality and they are almost destroyed  They do like to keep their paws warm though by sitting on it too.

We have laminate and it will be staying that way for the time being too
