My friend used to take his massive Irish Wolfhound up until she died a few year back - the people loved her cos she was so big they didn't even have to get out of their chairs or beds to stroke her. Not sure if they can come to your house - I suppose it's up to them but then again there's lots of Health and Safety and rules and regulations these days  >:(

Do the PAT people make home visits or just to care homes? I know my mum finds the old people always miss their pets alot, often more than the family!

Not sure, must look into that, it would be a good idea.  :)

Sadly mum and Sushi are no longer with me.      Candie though still is but getting on in years.

  Lovely memories though. How old is Candie?

thanks.

she's 14 so not as old as your lovely girl, her kidneys aren't great though and she's a skinny wee thing but she has such a sweet nature.   I only bred a few litters of kittens and she was the first kitten from the first litter so we have many special memories with her.       My mum had alzheimers and threw out all the family photos etc so I don't have much to remind me of her apart from my memories and Candie.

aw Zeta is gorgeous rather like my mum's cat Candie who is a blue cp persian as well.     When my mum had to go in a home [and Candie came to live with me} I used to take my dilute torti and white girl Sushi up to see her as she missed Candie {Candie wouldn't of coped with the strange environment}.     Sushi used to enjoy the attention of mum and the other residents and went there on numerous occasions.      Sadly mum and Sushi are no longer with me.      Candie though still is but getting on in years.

Thats so lovely - maybe Zeta could be a PAT cat! ;D

That did cross my mind, but I think maybe the trips back and forth to mums are enough for her at the moment. She sat on mum's lap for ages this time  :Luv:

Fantastic pics Gillian - looks like this could be a regular thing for you and Zeta.  Hope the carer brings something nice for Zeta next time  :naughty: :Luv2:

I don't think many cats would do that? - I can't imagine not being able to have cats around so it must be a real tonic for her. It's a shame she can't have a cat there all the time.

Yes, it is a shame, mum used to have 2 cats of her own, but its about 5 yrs or so since the last one died - it was so sad, mum woke up to see Shelley on the end of the bed, she thought she was asleep, but she'd died.  :(

I do believe Zeta would be quite happy to stay with mum, but mum wouldnt be able to cope with feeding her and litter tray etc because she isnt mobile enough, couldnt really ask the carers to do it, although both of the carers who've met Zeta thought she was lovely, and one of them's got a cat.

No, definitely wouldnt inflict Harry on her  :evillaugh:

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Took Zeta back to visit mum again today - made herself very much at home as before. When one of the carers arrived to make mum's tea, Zeta followed her out to the kitchen, just to check if there wasnt a little something for HER tea too LOL!

My Zeta is a star - WITH PICCIES!
« Reply #1 on: February 28, 2010, 18:49:01 PM »
Since mum's had her hip op last year and has suffered several infections, she's been quite down. She's confined to her flat and she has carers coming in 4 times daily. Its an upstairs flat and its hard enough work for her to walk from bedroom to bathroom etc, so consequently I can't take her out anywhere and she hasnt seen the my cats for well over a year  :( (we are still waiting to hear about whether SS will install a stairlift)

Anyway, she really misses seeing the cats, so yesterday, I had to take Zeta to the vets for a check over after her probs with vestibiluar disease. Just before my appointment one of mum's carers phoned me to say mum was feeling sick (one of the nighttime carers had given her a tablet at bedtime she shouldnt have  >:( ) so I said I'd pop in. I was going to take Zeta home first - but suddenly thought, no, I'll take her round to mums.  :) - (its just round the corner from the vets)

Zeta was an absolute star, she wasnt at all put out by being in a strange place, went round investigating all the rooms, jumped up on mum's lap, and made herself at home on mum's bed  :Luv: The look on mum's face when I appeared in the lounge with Zeta in my arms was priceless! I havent seen her look that happy for a long time - and when Zeta sat on her lap, mum said to her, you've made my day  :Luv2:  It was just brill, and I was so proud of my girl, she's 16 and just took everything in her stride, which is so typical of her anyway - and she actually looked very much at home, I'm sure she'd have been quite happy staying!
