that'is great - and you will be able to use an extender lead to let her roam a bit in safety when she is used to her harness

Just wanted to give a quick update...

Puddles is 100% healed after her ordeal, she is still a bit jumpy, but she is running and playing and adjusting to being a house cat. We have even been for little walks on her new lead.

She is still a little monkey at night for scratching and waking us up, but its so lovely to have her back to normal.

Puddles is strictly a house cat now, u can't risk letting her out again sadly. She is adjusting, it's just going to take some time! X

So glad she is beginning to be more like her old self.  Are you keeping her as a house cat now or just until she is better?

Thanks Guys,

She is starting to act more like her old self again, although she is not enjoying being a house cat at all!

had confirmation from the vet that her leg isnt broken and its healing nicely, though it will unfortunately be permanently misshapen, she is using it without any problems and happily jumping up for toys and treats. She has a habit of waking up at 5am and scratching on my wardrobe til one of us gets up which is causing us a few sleepless nights, but its a small price to pay for having her home. She is sleeping alot still, but i guess she is just comfortable here and is still recuperating. I just hope she continues to improve.  :innocent:

we do love her to pieces!

Here's hoping she improves quickly now.  :)

Might also be worth contacting the local paper - I've seen them run a few similar stories and it never hurts to get word round for people to be on the lookout.

Oh Jenny what wonderful news that Puddles is back home.  It's a shame the couple that found her didn't get her toa vet sooner but I suppose you have to be grateful that they did care enough to do anything ... so many people would have just looked the other way

With regards to the injury is it worth mentioning it to the local police .... I know that won't be able to do anything about it but they may want to log it in case it isn't an isolated incident.

Sending lots and lots of get well soon vibes to Puddles.

Had lots of cuddles with Puddles until today when her poor little leg has swelled up and she can't bear weight on it :-( we've been back to the vets and she is now on pain killers and antibiotics, she is going back on Friday for sedation as there is a possibility the bullet may have chipped a bone and could be causing problems. Poor baby. I just want my little girl to be ok.

It's so lovely having her home, still can't believe it when I wake up in the morning when she is there! She has picked up some new habits (taking her food out of her food bowl and putting it on the floor, hissing at other cats through the window, and sleeping with one eye open) I figure this will either improve in time or be something to get used to! She has also stopped making her usual chirpy little noises, but again I think this will come with time as she gets settled again. She is walking a little stiffly on her injured leg, and keeps licking the wound but it is quite deep and the marking of the pellet is very obvious, I'm so very lucky she came home.

So glad Puddles is home, they can travel a long distance though in a short time because they can cut accross field ets.  I agree about the chip too, a friend of my sister's found her cat 5 miles away and he was taken in by a couple who were going to keep him! they had need to take him to the vet and it was only then the chip was found.

I dont want this story to give extra worry to people who are still looking for their babies, i'm sure that it is an isolated incident and have renewed faith in humanity to do the right thing. But i'm so pleased she is now safe and home   :wow:

If this isnt an advert for microchips i really dont know what is! i've spoken to the couple who found her, they thought she was a stray, they had tended to her wound but not taken her to a vet until she had started limping. The vet knew she wasnt stray because she was so friendly, and had the markings around her neck where her collar had been, the microchip saved the day tho! Her injuries are minimal fortunately, i just hope i never find out who could do this to my baby and have to be grateful the couple who found her did the right thing eventually. She's snuggled up on the sofa now, just adjusting to being here.
I'm just gonna be glad she is home and not think about what she has been through.

I'm so pleased for you and Puddles both!  Poor little love, to end up so far away from home and injured. Wonder what she went through - and why didn't the people who found her get her to a vets sooner if they knew she was injured.

She is back where she belongs now though - thank heavens for microchips.

my baby is home. Puddles was handed in to a veterinary practice this evening, she is ok, but a little traumatised (as am i)
She was found the day she went missing (6th Feb) by a couple renting a cottage as a holiday home a fair few miles away, with no collar, and a pellet wound in her hind quarters. I'm obviously delighted my beautiful girl is home, and will most likely now be keeping her as a house cat. I know cats are good, but she couldnt not possibly have travelled the five miles to the other village, and lost her collar within hours of sustaining an injury.
Thank you for all your help and support.

walking around the area she may be in as late as you can, calling her and listening, might be worthwhile

I'd take a carrier too just in case she comes to you and then runs off

the listening bit is very important, but is pointless while there's loads of noise going on

I really hope so!! i think if she is sitting at other peoples french doors with her nose pressed against the glass (something she used to do at my own french doors) there is a strong possibility she is disorientated and not quite sure where home is. I've left some food out tonight and will follow the path again in daylight, i've also left a toy with my kind neighbour just incase she goes back to her door.
If you have any advice on helping her find her way home again i'd really appreciate it (i've tried the hoover contents, her blanket and my clothes outside). There is a small cul de sac of houses just off the dirt track i walked tonight, so i will do a leaflet drop tomorrow just in case.

Some positive news......
Had a sighting around 9am today, a little black cat in a collar with a tag was sitting looking through a ladys french windows by a large wooded area just by our estate. Unfortunately i have been working in liverpool today so i didnt get home til 1730, i've been out and seen no Puddles. Its snowing quite badly here so i figure she has found somewhere warm for the night and hope she surfaces again tomorrow. Or at least if the cat appears i can rule out the possibility that its my baby. Trying to be positive but not get my hopes up.

Fingers crossed.

Just done my second load of flyers and got a phone call from a neighbour about a notice up in the local newsagents about a cat that has been found, i called the lady but it wasnt puddles :-( the neighbour did say that my Puddles was annoying everybody by going into their houses - but nobody said anything to me, just wish i had known as i could have kept her in maybe, i dont know. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I didnt realise my friendly curious little angel could be such a pest to so many people, on the plus side it could mean she is out there somewhere happily being fed in a home she has wandered into. I hope so.

:thanks: guys, spoke to another rescue centre in the area tonight, they advised doing another leaflet drop but offering a reward this time so fingers crossed someone will have seen something.
On the plus side the council have not had any reports of cats that have perished in an RTA so i am trying to remain positive! Hopefully her microchip will make the difference!
