Not sure if you remember Oliver …. The big cuddly British cream that seems to spend every waking minute either in my garden, the rabbit hutch or in the foul weather we have had lately curled up on the sofa at my house. (pics here :

Well I have just had a call at work from Caroline (my cat sitter) who lives across the road from me to tell me that the two guys who live about 5 doors down from me and who are supposed to be Olivers parents are moving out. There is a removal van outside at the moment and they are packing up and going (the are trolly dollies for Easyjet and since Easyjet are no longer flying out of East Midlands Airport they are having to go somewhere else). Caroline happened to see them loading stuff up and went over and asked “so what’s happening with your cat” … to which they replied, with a shrug of the shoulders “dunno … nothing … he never comes home anyway”!
I must point out that I have never actively encouraged Olly to stay at mine …. The fact that he actually spends so much time in the rabbit hutch proves I don’t really want him in but when he was out and it started to snow I felt so sorry for him that I had to let him in. He stayed at my house for the whole week only venturing out to have a quick pee in the garden and then came running back to the back door to be let in again. During this time … there were no lost posters, no knocks on the door, in fact absolutely no interest in his “missing”. As I was off work and home all day I didn’t feel bad about him staying in as I would have been there if anyone had come knocking and looking for him!
Anyway back to today … Caroline then said to the guys “I know he does spend a lot of time in Sam’s garden as her garden in fenced in and nice and quiet so there are always cats “chilling out” in it – maybe he is round there now! Would you like me to go and have a look for him for you?” to which they replied … No, it’s OK, he’ll be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So it looks like they are abandoning him without a second thought - B$$tards!!!!! If this is the case it looks like Oliver will be moving in with me (something I think he already decided he wanted to do about 18 months ago!). Poor little lad.
I did think about going round this evening and jumping up and down and making a fuss but I thought about it and if they do take him with them they aren’t going to look after him any better wherever they go next and poor Olly may not have the benefit of a cosy rabbit hutch and nice quiet garden a few doors down at the next place so he is probably better off staying in an area where he knows his way around and has someone to make a fuss of him.
