Ouch, sounds like you have a right handful there,  lol

 ;)

Welcome from the Clan Cats all 46 of them (now baby Gorgeous has been found 30 foot up a tree after 5 days!) and their pets our darling Border Collies Sky and Sunny

Ours aren't allowed any small pets as they keep bringing bunnies, and pheasants home along with the odd mole and lots of mice - we live in the middle of nowhere and as the mojority of mine are former ferals and some normals and my rescue ragdoll we only let them have doggies as pets and their goldfish!

It's ok - I know it takes time & a LOT of patience to socialise cats & a bunny.
I'm currently allowing them to be together for a couple of hours a day & only supervised by me; that way I can watch exactly what they're getting up to & intervene if I need to to prevent any problems arising.

tbh though, so far my kittens are being ok with my bunny, they do occasionally go too far but I'm on them instantly & very quick to discipline any bad behaviour (which is rare), as well as encouraging good behaviour.

They all have laidback gentle personalities although if anything, my bunny is the bossy one. He grunts & headbutts the kittens if they're in his way, & they move for him.

:welcome: to Purrs.

I don't mean to be all doom and gloom, but please be very careful with your kitties and bun together. I know it can work - as several Purrs members can atest to, but it can also not work. After all cats are predators and buns are prey. I have a house bun who is cool as a cucumber, at the same time I have a kitty who thinks he's a Lion. They cannot be out together as I have no doubt that blood would be shed. Bunnies skins are so delicate that it is ever so easy for them to get hurt.

So be prepared that it might not work and they might not settle.

I know the feeling, both my cats are showing potential to be hunters, especially Corky.

So far it's going well though, the only problem I have is Phillip behaving like a rabbit & trying to hump my cats all the time. @ 1st they were getting really cross with him, but now they think he's playing & they try to playfight with him.
To Phillip's credit he doesn't seem to mind (he's a very laid back bunny), but I do worry about the cat's sharp claws & teeth.
I don't let him out unsupervised yet, but I've only had Phillip just over a week so it's going to take time for all of them to adjust :)

:welcome: Mel

The kittys will settle down with the bun, I have a hunter cat and he's now fine with my rabbits  :)

Awww thanks :)

I'm all for supporting rescue centres, they do such wonderful work for animals in need - that's why my animals came from rescue rather than breeders or pet shops; although I'd never sanction anyone else for using these outlets as there are many good breeders out there too.
I'm not thrilled about bunnies being sold in pet shops though, but this isn't the place for that  ;)  LOL

Wonderful, it's nice to know fellow cat lovers are nearby too :)

I adopted my bunny, Phillip, a week ago from the RSPCA. He's 2yo & was in a real bad state when he was rescued, but he's doing loads better now & is also really affectionate. He loves to headbutt me for a fuss lol

My kittens have accepted him without any problems either, they're not being aggressive or mean to him, although Corky thinks he's another cat & tries to playfight - biting his head/neck etc, the same way he does with his brother. Understandably Phillip doesn't like this, but I'm supervising all contact so I can intervene if I feel it necessary.
Finlay just keeps out of the way, clever kitty LOL

These are bigger photos so I've linked them instead

Hi and  :welcome 2:  to Purrs Mel, glad you found us and look forward to hearing more about you and your furbabes  ;D

I'm also from Yorkshire and we visit York a fair bit.

Your kitties are both gorgeous, hope they are soon well again, we must see a photo of your rabbit too!

Hi everyone, my name's Mel & I live in York, North Yorkshire, & I'm the very proud mommy of 2 kittens, 2 budgies & a house rabbit   :Luv:

My kittens (Finlay & Corky) are 7 months old & I adopted them @ 4 months from CPL. They're brothers from the same litter & very close, play fighting and grooming each other - although they don't tend to sleep together any more.
They were born on a farm, but I don't know any more of their history or parents.

Unfortunately they've both been plagued with health problems as shortly after I brought them home they started sneezing and coughing.
I took them to the vets & found out they both have cat 'flu, which they're currently on an anti-viral food supplement for as they have the herpes virus.

Other than the sneezing & runny noses they're both playful & mischeivous boys, full of life & really affectionate.
They're real characters & have a few stories to tell, but I'll save those for later   ;D

I've owned cats before, but a few years ago, so I'd say I'm a reasonably experienced owner; although I learned a lot about what not to do with cats when I was a teenager & my mom had 2 cats (brother & sister) that mated & had a litter of kittens  :-[ (I'm 35 now so I've learned a lot since then, & so has my mom I'm pleased to say)
I'm happy to say both my boys are neutered & my bunny has just been neutered too.

It's really nice to be here & I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better.
Mel

Here's a couple of photos I took of them @ 5 months, I'll upload some more later.
