The auction is still at £14.50 right now and there is less than 23 hours left till it ends!

Based on the prices here, the Da Bird Toy, Kitty Kopter and Cat Catcher alone total to £14.73! And the package also comes with the cigar (unable to find this on Purrs store. Do you sell those?) and a bumper sticker! Surely the package is worth at least £18?

Thanks Dave for supporting Catchat.  They are very very good friends of ours and we think of Purrs as the grown up Kitten of Catchat. It's where our roots came from.  ;D
We now work with cat chat to help the needy cats all we can  ;D

The cats that run catchat (oh yes the cats are the bosses - Miss Tangle (in training) and Marm Gem are wonderful as is their hooman slaves who help them just a little!  They help so many rescues getting the word out for cats that need rehoming. They especailly support the older cats that are looking for homes and have a Oldie campaign.  ;D

So fellow Purrs peeps, if you wanted the great toys Dave is auctioning 100% for catchat (esp as Purrs shop is all out of stock! :wow:  so you can't get some of these items in UK as only Purrs sells them over here  ;))

Have fun bidding  ;D

100% Charity Auction Started!
« Reply #5 on: December 16, 2009, 16:18:05 PM »
I have made the 100% Charity Auction on eBay to benefit CatChat! This eBay auction is an "eBay for Charity" auction administered by MissionFish, so the proceeds will go directly to the charity! I also charged about 1/2 the true shipping cost for the package and will insure it for free, in hopes this encourages slightly higher bids.

The auction is for the following:
1 x Da Bird 2-Part Pole Cat (interactive) Toy
1 x Cat Catcher Wand Cat (interactive) Toy
1 x Kitty Kopter (interactive if you toss, solo otherwise) Toy
1 x Duckyworld Yeowww! Brand 100% Organic Catnip Cigar (solo) Toy
1 x "I <heart> My Cat" Bumper Sticker

The items will be sent in a hard carboard tube via US First Class International Airmail and normally takes 4 to 8 days to arrive, though do keep in mind that this is the CHristmas Mailing season and it may slow up the delivery a bit.

The auction is active for 7 days.

Here is the link to the auction: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350294086444

Thank you for considering this auction.

Sincerely,

David

Animals Asia is a good one - a UK based charity which is involved in Educating the Chinese about dog & cat eating and using them for fur. They also rescue and rehabiliate bile bears - another barbaric chinese practice.

Hi Julie,
Tan already said it was okay to do it and post the link to the auction when I do it. I'll check with her on the best place to post the link when I do it. :) Thanks for the charity name, and yes, I want it to be cat related. :)

It's very kind of you to be thinking about supporting a UK charity.  Yes we're familiar with Missionfish here. I have been instrumental in setting up a few CP branch Missionfish accounts and I know that a lot of rescue people on this forum also have their own Missionfish accounts.  :)

If it's a cat cause you are thinking of supporting I'm not sure if Purr's charitable section is affliated. (Mods??) But if they are not, can I suggest Catchat? Catchat is a wonderful cause which has directly led to many, many cats being rehomed from all kinds of rescue groups. A lot of them hard to home cats who just needed that extra bit of publicity. Think of it as a rescue cat supermarket.  :) http://www.catchat.org/donate.html

Are any of you familiar with Missionfish? If not, they work with eBay through eBay Giving Works, and if a charity has joined (no cost to them) eBay sellers can create charity auctions and sales with a percentage of the proceeds going to a given charity directly.

I do a lot of thse through the year and was planning to do one for a UK charity. I do not do them for the UK charities often for 2 reasons really, 1. The USD is so low compared to the GBP that if a USA based buyer winds the listing the money will go further in the US shelters (say $20 goes further in the USA than in the UK these days). 2. No tax deduction for a USA seller.

Anyway, i am looking to make an ebay UK 100% charity auction in a few days and wanted to know which available UK Animal charities were the best to use. Take a look at this link: http://www.missionfish.org.uk/donation/MFSController?ACTION=BrowseAction&SUB_ACTION=GetSearchResult&area_id=5&state_id=&name=cats&search_statement=1&ACTION=BrowseAction&SUB_ACTION=GetSearchResult&ebay_user_id=null
Those are the choices I will pick from. Which do you like? I'll pick one of the ones you note in this thread when I set up the auction.
