:evillaugh: My last one was running for almost 4 years non-stop and one of the new ones has been going for a year or so.
DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

My parents have one and no problems so far and if I could afford one I'd have one too.

Hopefully things that are on the mains aren't fire hazards as our smoke alarm system runs on the mains  :evillaugh:

It's only because someone put doubts in your mind. Next time you see that person point out all the things they would have plugged in all the time. There are probably loads of items.

See, I knew you guys would make me feel better. ;) I was already thinking, but we have other things plugged in all the time.....(I have reptile vivs for a start!) but managed to get myself into a tizzy about how flammable the door probably was!

My aquarium, house phone and sky box are plugged in 24/7. The only time they are off is during power cuts. Certainly wouldn't worry about the pet porte if I had one.

Thanks MM, fair point. (I wasn't concerned until the comment was made.....then I thought about my landlords expression if anything happened to his door. :-:)

Why would they be a fire hazard?  :scared:

Because they're permanently plugged in was their comment on the matter.

Isnt your fridge also? I think if that was there meaning then we could all live our lives worrying about "what if's"  ;)

Anything electrical can be a fire risk, quick turn off the pc lol
They use very little power so i feel quite happy it wont overheat, cant be much difference to leaving the tv plugged on or the oven

I would say if they are working fine then just the same risk as any other! Its a chip on the collar that open's them isnt it? Well if the flames were that bad to damage the flap etc!  ;)

Was talking to someone the other day about Pet Porte cat flaps and they said surely they'd be a fire risk. What are peoples opinions on this? I've been made massively paranoid now!
