I was told off as a child for collecting worms and snails and putting them down our outside drain that the kitchen sink went into. :-[

Yeuch!! Worms!!

I used to really, really hate them!

I remember my brother stirring up a mixture of washing up liquid and water and pouring it onto a corner of our lawn in the back garden (My Dad would have gone mad if he had seen him)!

I didnt know what he was doing.  Just as well!! The idea was to catch worms .... :shify:

The washing up liquid irritates their skins and they all come up to the surface  :tired:

Then you can catch the worms  :wow:

Id like to say that he was going to use the worms for fishing (at least that would have been vaguely understandable, then)

But no - the worms were to chase me and my friends with!!!  :evillaugh:

Yep I bet there's loads about our lawn has loads of tiny blobs of dirt like miniature mole holes when it rains and they surface.  I once read that when birds peck at the grass the worms surface thinking it's rain, not sure how true it is though.
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

I think its when it has been raining heavy and the worms surface, then the cats grab them  ;D

Where do they find them?  I don't really ever see worms lurking around on the surface!

We normally have the usual assortment of birds, mice, shrews, frogs, rats and bats...but last night we had a worm  You'd be amazed at how much mess one of those makes when it's been played with in the hallway!
