Thanks Mark. I know how much Rae cared for Rosie (Monkey) so wanted to assure her that she is doing well.

Hi Moira,

If you can't get hold of Rae, PM Sharon (Canterbury Cats) as she has Rae's number from when Missa was homed.

Rae, if you are looking in, I've lost your phone number. Rosie (aka Monkey) is doing fine. She was speyed on Friday and is recovering well. The hardest thing is to keep her from running around.

Sorry to hear you've been poorly, Rae. Please feel free to come over for a cuppa anytime.

Rosie continues to do very well. she is much quieter than Sophie (who is completely bonkers:) but they do enjoy playing together and are totally focussed on each other to the relief of  their room mates, Truman, Stinky and MacGreggor . When I took Rosie to the vet last week for her vaccination Sofie came too for company and they were both totally calm on the journey, in comparison with when I took Rosie back to Leicester from Loughborough when she was frantic almost to the point of doing herself an injury. Rosie is so sweet, when I lie on the bed she snuggles up, sticks her nose under the pillow and suckles on it. I wondered if this was because, perhaps, she had been taken from her mother too young.

Purrs is a great site. I discovered it about a year ago and have learned a tremendous amount from all the experienced cat people here.

Picked Rosie (aka Monkey) up this afternoon. It was a pretty traumatic drive home as she was very distressed in the carrier but fortunately it was only 20 minutes. However, 5 minutes after being introduced to Sophie they were chasing each other round the bedroom and having great fun. Rosie managed to tire Sophie out which I didn't think possible. Rosie is beautiful and in the peak of health thanks to Rae - She's obviously been spoiled rotten. MacGreggor was curious and went over for a sniff but Rosie growled at him so he left her alone (the young ones nowadays have no manners). She was a little bit more careful with Stinkey who hissed at her and went back to her cupboard. The sun was shinning through the window and Truman was dosing in a patch of sunlight, missing the whole thing. Difficult to get a good picture as they wouldn't stay still long enough. I'll post more on Monday. Bye the way, Rae's Missa is a gorgeous regal lady and looks much younger than her 11 years. She didn't take to me too much, probably seeing the cat carrier she thought I was takihng her away from her mummy.

Stinky by name, stinky by nature.

A bit unfair, she really is very sweet but she is one of those cats that will purr while you stroke her then when she has had enough she'll turn and take your hand off. She is 12 now and I have had her since she was 6 months. I brought her down from Scotland with me 9 years ago in the back of my Nissan Micra with my, then, other 2 cats (now departed). Being the only female, up till now, she is very much the matriarch and stands no nonsence from the boys.

Sophie is really looking forward to her new playmate coming but I haven't broken the news to the old grumpies yet.

Trigger:
'I imagine them leaning over the side of Moira's bed commenting on the action like those two grumpies in the balcony on the Muppets '  That cracked me up :) Stinkey, of course, would be just standing by looking down her nose with a haughty expression.

 I have to say, last night I was quite worried she'd do herself an injury. If I had thrown her around with the force that she was throwing herself around I'd be done for cruelty. Then, when she had tired herself out she had the cheek to crawl under the duvet beside me and go to sleep! The rest of the clan do have their manic episodes but they stay downstairs , I'm used to calm in my bedroom :)

Ricocheting round the room at 2am is not unique to kittens, Dave has taken to doing this with alarming regularity and always nearly bounces off my face at least a couple of times as he apparently has little control of himself during these episodes! I actually hid under the covers this morning for fear of grievous facial harm!

Well done to everyone on this one, good to know there are people who care :Luv:

'Double trouble' . Groan :) I'm hoping they'll tire each other out during the day so the rest of us can sleep at night. Last night Sofie went bonkers and spent from 2:00 -3:00am ricoshaying around the room like a bullet from a gun. Stinky asked to be let out onto the landing, MacGreggor hid in the cupboard and Truman and I took refuge under the covers (really). I am excited about it, though. It's nice for kittens to be in pairs, I think.

guilty as charged :)

Monkey-magic will join Sofie kitten (little one recently found in my colleagues garden and currently being looked after by Truman, Stinky and MacGreggor) and both will stay with me at least until they are vaccinated, speyed and chipped. I say 'at least' because I am not convinced that I will be able to let them go but I will have to think what is in their best interests when the time comes. I am picking her up on Saturday (Ray is just 20 minutes from me) and will post pics as soon as I can.

I think a big thank you should also go out to the anonymous gentleman that stopped his car, got out and helped Ray rescue the terrorised kitten from the drunken yobs. Thank God for people who will stop and not just walk/drive on by.
