Just another thought. Have you tried Leicester Animal Aid at Huncote? They recently agreed to take Sofie, the little kitten found in my colleague's garden who is now with me.

has she been scanned for a chip?

No collar, no chip

Her details have been widely circulated too...

Hi Trigger ,    REALLY appreciate all the ideas and none of them are silly!- I guess I am just angry at the situation, especially from how I came to be looking after Monkey and a certain rescue telling me that if I got to a point where I couldnt cope further to just "put it back out on the street!"  grrrrr makes my blood boil.

Anyway fingers crossed for her- at least she is safe and warm for the time being- im just off to get her some more litter so will catch up shortly.   Thanks again, sincerely.

I was totally thinking of a member of staff - there are Common Rooms for staff only at most Universities and Colleges

sorry - should have made my silly idea more detailed :-[

I went to Uni as a mature student and did a PhD too, while living in my own home

I know that there are more than just students at the uni etc, and I not too "urgent" about homing her (she has been here about 9 days now) its just that its a difficult situation and so sad for Melissa (Im sure everyone remembers her) as she is not the same cat at the min and I feel very unfair on her too. Thanks to firefox and everyone for the suggestions :) :Luv2:

I have just had a call from the vets who said that a lady that comes in has a sister that runs a small local rescue in Loughborough and a number so Im going to call there and see if anyone has reported this missing kitty.  In the mean time Monkey is asleep, fed, watered and purring! so alls good here.

The way you are babbling on as you say just shows your urgency!

You should be able to get a voucher for her spay from CP.....It would either be £5 or even free!  ;)

Would hate to think that someone could try and con you and only really want her for a breeding machine!  :(

Hiya

Thanks so much fo rtaking the time to reply and for your help.

Really dont want to advertise her in the college or Uni.  My main concern is that the students all temporarily rent rooms in houses and are never here much more than a year at a time, I couldnt bear to think she was abandoned again in a years time.  Also another concern is that she may not be looked after properly anyway, with all the parties etc and the fact that the majority of the houses are rented from private landlords who dont allow pets.   I can imagine someone with good intentions taking her in, hiding her from teh landlord and then getting found out- she would be dumped I think.

Maybe I am being too picky and please dont think im tarring all students with the same brush (my eldest is at college now) .

I would be more than willing to get her chipped and/or spayed but my priority is to get her into a new home as soon as possible.  This is probably all comng out wrong, I dont mean that I wouldnt get her sorted out but on a personal level we dont have a lot of disposable income and she has already cost me quite a lot over the last 9 days-   :(  its all coming out wrong.

I hope somehow you all know what im babbling about

just one of my silly ideas - but have you considered asking if you can put up a noitce in the college the students came from?

the fact that she was being mistreated by students might help her find a home

can you get a CP voucher to get her spayed too, before she leaves you?

Thank You Christine.  They were drunk and trying to get the poor little thing to run backwards and forwards across Frederick Street.  It was half past midnight!- grrrrrrr. Poor monkey was shaking like  a lef and freezing cold and wet.  Not now though.  Maybe  I can try and get a pic on here.

Thanks again

PLEASE HELP!!- Kitten currently being cared for in Loughborough HOMED
« Reply #1 on: October 13, 2009, 10:45:34 AM »
 :(

Hi everyone

I am hoping that someone on here can help me please.

Long story short, some students were messing around with a little kitten just over a week ago and a kind man in a car and myself stopped them and somehow I ended up taking the poor little thing in for "the night!".

I still have her and although I have done everything to introduce her to teh notorious Mellissa it is absoloutly not going to work.  Also becausof my proximity to the main Ashby Road in lough I couldnt let her out so I need to find her a place to go.

I have called Cats protection, RSPCA, Markfield and several other rescues and no one can help me.  Also I have cirulated her details through the local vets and put notices in shops.  I took her to a local vet to be checked over and she is fabulous!.  No collar, no chip but in very good health and has put on weight and been spoilt to death since "movng in" here.

She has not be spayed (no suprise there).  The situation is not ideal for anyone, poor puss (named Monkey by my two girls) is stuck in my eldest daughters bedroom and poor Melissa is one less double bed to snuggle in!  :Luv:

Monkey is black and white, about 4-5 months old and has HUGE paws!! all white socks and eyes like dustbin lids :)

ANY advice or help would be so gratefully received.  If there is a temprary place for her to go, or even a foever home we can help with transportation etc.

Many thanks to everyone for reading my posting.

Hugs
Rae and Missa
