I think the Flectabeds are great as they don't use any energy but reflect body heat back. Not suitable for animals with Hypothermia but excellent for recycling body heat. The technology was developed by Nasa and is used by emergency services. I got one last year for Alice. They don't get as warm as a proper heated but but a good 2nd best.
http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp?dept_id=317&pf_id=0393 Size 2 is good for most cats. I'm sure Sharon & I paid about £18 for them but most places seem to charge around £28.00

This version has a fleecy cover which is good. Ours has a faux suede cover. They are washable and you can buy spare covers if needed. We haven't needed to as they are well made and I always use another fleece over it. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pet-Life-Flectabed-Vet-Bed-S2-Dog-Thermal-Warm-Cosy-Bed_W0QQitemZ120469601207QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Dogs?hash=item1c0c8c3bb7&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

This is the cheapest I can find but not sure of postage as you need to register http://www.frontlinespotonkillsfleas.co.uk/store/item/1znmf/Flectabed/Flectabed_26_x_20_size_2.html

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Molly doesnt have it in her to be a fat cat, she has always been tiny - she has always eaten on my bed. Zi is going to have the microwaveable one for in the bathroom, as there are no plug sockets in there, and I dont have any more spare sockets for one in here, I have to keep swapping plugs as it is to have the bed on for them!!
Please spay your cat

Cats are like little bundles of razor blades wrapped in soft fur.

Molly's new bed

My friend gave me a heated bed their cats wouldn't use the other night, so I tried it on Molly - I have used one of the microwave ones in the past for her and it scared her, so I was a bit apprehensive. They both laid on it briefly the first night and then slept round me, but then yesterday and overnight, I can hardly get Molly off it - she is even hissing at Zi for being close to it!! She didn't bother with me for hours last night and the past couple of weeks, she has been on the pillow above my head before I have even got in it, and then staying till the morning. It is so close to her food bowl that she can eat while on it too, she only has to move for water and the toilet. Will take some pics tomorrow when the battery is recharged.
