Ornaments? What're they then?

I think they're those things you're given as gifts or buy in the hopes that they'll survive the mad half hours that your cats have! ;)

People have stopped giving me ornaments as gifts.  They've heard too many tales of Mosi's antics!

Ta for the nice words about Mose - tis a nice pic isn't it.  He was only about 4 months there.

I don't really do ornaments as Mosi and ornaments don't mix.  The ones I do have tend to be cheap and unbreakable just to be on the safe side!  Here's one of them.  The ornament's on the right of the photo  ;)  It was facing more forwards for a few seconds before Mosi did some rearranging.

Leigh the blue glass bowl is caithness glass, they have lovely stuff and debenhams often have it in their sale , at either side there is a large glass caithness paper weight type of thing and you get some absolutely beatiful ones altho mine are plainer than alot of them.  But yes the puffin on the blue glass is beauful and i still love it, Its was a wedding present if i remember correctly.

the owl i also like, i wouldnt have chosen him personally but i do like him (its a ruddy nuisance to dust tho )

the make (ive just checked) is "a walk in the country"  its quite unusual as the owl is flying away from a piece of wood but when you look closely there are lots of other owls etched into the tree and even on the main owls big wing.   they also do wolves etc in a similar style but i cant find a website im afraid.

oh and im sad doing it because ive far too much other stuff i should be doing albeit extremely boring

Hi Lynn, if you're sad photographing your ornaments then that must make me a sad individual too :)

You've got some beautiful ornaments there, I particularly love the owl (of course), the globe and those blue glasses, very stylish, I love Art deco stuff in particular, not got a lot but just love that period, I've always loved scupture too, something very "sensual" about scupture, makes me want to touch it. It is all these kinds of things and tastes that make us what we are, unique. It's not jusrt what they are it's the memories associated with each item, where and how they were obtained etc., often my stuff is associated with fond memories of an occasion or special day out and those memories are priceless.=, unlike my stuff LOL, as I said, chamkpagne tastes on beer money, that's me.

Thanks for sharing,

Cheers

Leigh

ok here we are..
sandicast boxer pup is a little worse for wear now, he was an 18th birthday pressie and cody uses him as an attack platform as he sits on the floor just beside the door where the other 2 cats live. I really should throw him out but havent the heart as one time i wanted a boxer dog for years. (i wised up fortunately LOL)

Then i have my greyhound sandicast dog, I love him as not only was he a wedding present but looks like my beloved jake i had at the time (who michael had to leave our wedding to nip home and let out for a pee  :evillaugh:)

On top of my side board i have a tiger cub which was part of my xmas pressie from michael last year.

and in my alcove theres a globe i gave dh 2 xmas ago and some cheap but cute dog and cat ornaments.

I love the ornaments Forrever Missing my boys a great ciollection you have there.  LOL hippykitty, you've got better tastes than my recent burglars. The tuxedo cats, salt and pepper pots were one of the very few things that I got when I cleared my mother's house last year. I supposeb the market in knocked off laptops is better than knocked off novelty salt and pepper pots :)

Cheers all

Leigh, I love the collection with the two 'head waiter' syle black and white cats, with Bagpuss sitting to the left (ours) of them. Where do you live so I can break in and pinch them?  :evillaugh:

Hi folks,

In another posting I mentioned that I like cat, bird and dolphin ornaments so I thought I'd post a few pics and see if others share my hobby, they're mostly just bits that I've picked up in chariry shopsb during my travels :)

Nothing expensive just bits and bobs that apeal to my quirky tastes :)

Cheers
