Just heard from surgeon. They're going to restitch and try to work out the best way to do internal stitches on a wound that has been cut twice, as well as externals. She'll have a dressing. Its only that Lexy hurts herself trying to get out of a buster collar that she can't wear one. So we'll take it all into consideration. They'll let me know how she's doing in a little while after the procedure. All going well I'll take her home tonight.

She ate (or licked off) 3 stitches... :-:

Irrigation took place, but they need to let it settle before they suture it up so that will be done tomorrow morning under mild sedation. That means one more night.

Oh Ruth.  Just caught up with this.  You must be feeling so down.     It's so worrying with our little 'uns, because they can't talk about what's going on, and cats are so darn good at "being stoic" but am hoping after today, they'll be able to get this sorted out once and for all.   :care:

It's hit and miss, Gill. Unfortunately due to the location and the requirement that she does move and walk around it can happen. She most likely will have a collar, even though she's never needed one before. It's just because the area has been cut twice in 3 weeks, so it's weaker.

I'm just tired. I'm not freaking out (yet). Lexy is comfortable and is the best care right now.

Oh Ruth this is so sad and must be so stressful for you and Lexy.

Surely this should not be happening unless Lexy got the stitches in which case, perish the thought she should have a collar  :scared:

Have they explained why this is happening cos I would be so worried now

Lexy stayed overnight. Night vet was the one who treated her each night since her last surgery so he's familiar with the surgery.

The site where it was oozing had opened and he could see a hole which needs irrigation to prevent infection. She'll be comfortable tonight. They have to wait for morning to treat as she ate at 7pm and they have to wait to be able to put her under GA again.

so here we go again  :(

Just got home and am pretty tired now. Feel like cr*p, thankfully not as cold out tonight as last night so hopefully I'll be well enough by tomorrow to go to work and focus elsewhere.
