Surgery booked Monday 21st.

I'm grateful it wasn't worse but my anxiety is high.

So we'll see. For now Lexy is ambling along enjoying making me suffer with withering looks of disgust and then maybe a little head butt. So it continues!

to say "glad" it's something that can be fixed relatively easily

but of course I am glad it's not something that might be more serious/permanent/costly Ruth

I haven't come across a torn ligament on a cat yet. Any idea how long she will need to recuperate?

Have you booked the lovely Lexy in for op yet? Hope she has come round now from sedative and has forgiven you

I actually mentioned that to vet and she frowned a bit and said for Lexy it would probably be better having carpets (or firmly placed rugs) as a slide the wrong way would have her hurting her knees anyway and knowing Lexy she'd knock herself out by banging her head on furniture

Sending Lexy a little headrub for being such a brave girl, even though it took 2 doses to calm her down, she's a fiesty wee girl

I'm sure the surgery will be absolutely fine, and yes you probably are more worried, but that's what makes you the wonderful slave that you are

Also pleased the insurance will cover the op, always nice to know

Have to say that vet was surprised that Lexy fought off the first one, and then the second was a bit of a mission, but it did knock her for six.

Oh thats a pity she has to have surgery bless her, but its not as bad as it would of been had the knee cap been displaced....Look on the upside Kitty!

She is such an energy is our Lexy, 2 doses for her to get her controllable and you were trying to give her meds....Eek defo rather you than me!

Glad its now over for you both and hope she dont blame you for too long!

Ok.

Lexy has indeed torn her ligament. However, Caroline is 99% sure that the way it tore is as a result of her yanking her toe on carpet.

So, surgery it is.

However, insurance will cover it as the kneecap was firmly in place and Caroline will ensure insurance company is aware. It's a common injury for cats.

Surgery is important but not immediately urgent so we'll sort it out this week and book my baby in.

So there you go. Lexy fought off the sedation so had to have two doses, she's sleeping it off, next to me, still resists me now and again but at least she's calm now.

I am knackered!

Aw thanks Pav. I did get your email, honey, but for some reason I'm struggling sending replies. Thanks for the offer to hold my little minx while I give her tabs but vet and I agreed she will need to be sedated for next course of treatment which we will do Monday.

You know, I do think she plays some of it up

Today, I was watching her and she didn't seem aware I was and the limping was decidedly minimal. As soon as she saw me looking the limp became more pronounced

Dairylea? Oh yes. Rejected

Caroline will come round Monday and we'll sedate her and investigate further. Sadly if it is her knee we have to explore surgery. We'll need an x-ray under GA and see the damage. Fingers crossed not, as a) I can't bear the thought of it again and b) insurance won't cover it. So will have to be a pauper for a couple months!

I dread our Billy needing pills. Have to say the relationship between us mums and certain "attitude" cats gets in the way sometimes. Sometimes they just know they are in charge and there's nowt to be done about it except get someone else to do the deed

Yep I always think in situations like this if you air your worries to the vet there are always other solutions...

spoke to Vet who has said that I shouldn't keep trying. She may injur herself more in trying to stop me.

So we'll see how she is tonight, either way I'll let the vet know and then we'll either need to sedate her to check on her leg and administer other meds and then see if the knee does need work.

So fingers crossed!

When I have to give Jess a pill on my own I try to jam him inbetween my legs, this usually works for on but not the second pill. If you only have one pill it might work for you.

I usually find taking time out myself and walking away calms me and Jess down before tyring it all again.

As for you admitting defeat I will be honest you are a braver woman than me because having witnessed that Lexy claw there is no way I would even attempt to give her a pill. Caroline needs to inject her for you.
