I actually thought there was a problem with transport or he must be ill, I agree it is always best to home near if you can Dawn, you know the cat and what is best for him.

Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

Nothing went wrong with it, it just takes time to set up but I understand that Dawn wasnt happy with it.

I'd love you to fill me in on what I was apparently not happy with seeing as the only comments I've made have been on this thread  :tired:  On second thoughts Gill, I don't want to know...I am  :censored: fuming with your comments and a couple of others and I might not be able to contain myself if I get started  :sneaky:

OMG, I really can't believe you lot bitching  >:(

Hope I'm not included in this statement.... ;) Noone is questioning the vet cost. Can we have a decision on what you think is best for Barry though? :) (If you'd rather PM me that's OK.)

Not you JS....I would just love to know what is meant by the something fishy comment  >:(  My life for the last few years has been devoted to these cats...I was out til 2.30 am on Wednesday night trying to trap some kittens, and I doubt many of you could say you would do that for ferals, the difference is, I would  :censored:  I don't need to  :censored: about the work I do with the cats, I deal with them 24/7.  Whatever happens with Barry as far as travelling is my decision.....and mine alone, yes i appreciate the offer from Ron but I still feel it is a little far for him to be travelling and if I can get him somewhere locally, that would be my choice.  I think I have been doing cat rescue long enough to know what is best for the cats in my care and I am not being rail roaded just because you lot don't like my decisions......I am not having him on a transport run going from car to car, this would be too stressful for any cat, never mind an oldie such as him.

I've been trying to contact her on another matter and haven't had any joy so think something else is going on, I know she had loads of personal stuff going on at the moment

All the more reason to get the cat permanently sorted, if Rons offer wasnt wanted then the polite thing to do would be to say no straight out, we all know how limited spaces are so to leave one hanging is unfair

I'd say letting Barry go to Ron's is the best thing to do, for the cats own needs.

And quickly as the offer cant stand forever  :shy:

he's not been rehomed, only fostered, so it can still be done

I agree too, we've had 2 oldies now travelled a long way one we collected from London and the other the fosterer brought up from Essexw although we offered to collect, he does have many illnesses but is fine and happy.  Hope something can be sorted xx

I agree totally with you Sharon and I am sure transport could have been arranged given a bit more time, cos it always takes time to sort something like this.

I am sure i am going to be hit on the head about this. But i think personally it was daft not to take Rons offer and give this cat a chance of a home, age nothing to do with it. Rather have a few hours of driving and end up some where nice then stay put.. Okay it would of involved alot of organising, but hey.. would bite the hand off of the person that offered an oldie a home and had rescue support as well.

As a branch of CP that have rehomed cats all over the place, unless the puss cat was physically ill and very poorly i would not transport a cat but other then that if the offer stands of a loving home or a rescue then... !?
Anyhow said my peace..

without proper rescue back up, this is not a good arrangement, surely

I think Ron's offer was a wonderful one, and I was really hoping this old boy could have been placed into his safe keeping for the rest of his days :(

I think that the cat should have gone to Ron, I do not like  the idea of a sponsored foster without any details being made known.

I am worried about the sponsorer and how much money is involved.....I do not think this should happen.

I think Rons offer was wonderful and we know that the cat would have a forever home but not so with a foster.

How long is this foster going to keep the cat, who decides on its medical care, is there a legal document drawn up to cover the sponsor and the foster? Who is the money going to directly?

So many questions and as much as I have admired Dawns work , this one to quote Ron. 'is all too fishy for me'

I think the sponsor should make sure that there is signed paperwork giving all the details of the arrangement and until there is, do not pay out any money.

In a situation like this one must know all the details.

But even if Barry is sponsored Dawn has made it clear that she wont keep him so where does that leave him with the winter coming??

It seems such a shame when Ron was happy to take him and offer him TLC and warmth in his twilight years - Ron you are a Diamond

Daisymac, I PM'd Ron today - I only found out about the sponsor situation this morning.

Ron, did you? I was unaware of that. Dawn hasn't been on Purrs much recently to my knowledge and the only communication I have is via the threads.

If I hear anything else I'll let you know straight away.

That is great that Barry has got a sponsor,  I hope that works out.

I do however think that maybe Ron could have been kept in the loop a bit more instead of him having to come to purrs to find out what was going on,  he firstly asked about sponsoring Barry and then he offerred a home for Barry and it seems no one got back to him,  (in fact he even said he was keeping a space for him),  so I wanted to say 'Ron you are a Star'

I've just been told someone is willing to sponsor Barry via PM, BUT I do know his dental bill still has outstanding amounts, so I'm sure DD would appreciate whatever people could donate. :)

Also, Dawn seemed happier with the idea of sponsorship more than transporting Barry due to his age. I'm waiting to see if she'd agree to the transporting, if there's no funding forthcoming.

There's a thread on the Transport Run board as well.   I think people probably need to post what sort of area they are in/can do then it can be co-ordinated easily.

Barrys sponsorship thread.

Maybe we can work it out on which has the most response. Dawn, would that be OK with you? Ron, I think it's a lovely offer.

I would be willing to help out on transport run,  but I am not really in the right place so to speak,  I am in bucks,  so just outside M25 and I dont think Barry would come that way would he ?   if he is then I could do say from the M40 junction 2 to the M3 Junction 3 (Camberley).  I dont know if that helps at all.
