Quick update Garcia is still doing ok but I am taking him to vet for recheck at 11am nothing to panic about, he has eaten fairly well and produced a poo smaller than a peanut; removed 4 dead fleas at 3am and found 1 more dead one this morning, he`s curled up on his snugglesafe sleeping at present (wish I was). Will update later today.

Clever little lad! Am sending some "Get Better Poorly Eye" vibes with some "There, there, there, poorly chest" vibes for this little man.   :care: :care: :care:

Wibblechick - I think some of them do just grab you like that.  Pedders (Ace Reporter Kittie) was another such, and of course, the Magnificent Joonyer Offusser Ripley of the Scrumptious Tum.  ;D

Am sure that with Aunty T and Aunty Claire's love and care, Garcia will be earning his stripes before too long.   :Luv:

I am so proud of our brave Garcia, he has managed 2 wee`s in his litter tray today despite being a bag of bones. He has just taken his first feed willingly even though it is still coming from a syringe and he enjoys being combed after each feed when we manage to remove at least 6 fleas, his eye is still very sore but it was a good decision to change to aureomycin which we are applying every 3 hours. Will stay up all night again tonight to ensure continuation of care. His little chest is still very noisy but its early days. I`m sure he would want me to thank you all for your good wishes, one thing is certain Garcia is one very much loved little one who has touched so many hearts and everything possible will be done for him.

Glad he is eating a little.  Try and get some rest yourself as I know you will be shattered.

I have just found this too.  How some people can look themselves in the mirror is beyond my comprehension.  I am so sorry you had to make such a decision, Claire, but glad you were there to take prompt action for both Garcia Jnr and to relieve the suffering of Buster Jnr.

My thoughts are with little Garcia now, and of course with Claire and Teresa.

Still syringe feeding Garcia, stayed up with him through the night in a bid to get that little bit extra in him and make sure his eye was bathed every 3 hours. He is still very poorly and getting food into him is difficult but we are getting enough in. His eye closed after less than 3 hours and when I opened it out popped very warm water and on cleaning it a piece of white  skin like tissue, have changed him to aureomycin this morning.
He is now sleeping on his snugglesafe heat pad.
Heres this mornings pics, I know Claire will be looking out for them.

Ruth - you are so right...when the vet suggested that he put Garcia on the computer as kittenx I felt he needed a name and Garcia seemed perfect for him.  He is a very poorly boy but he is a little figher and has had to endure so much today, including being trapped in a box with his dying sibling.

My utmost respect and admiration goes out to those who work in rescue every day (and not just at weekends like me) as having experienced a PTS for the first time today, it was the hardest thing I have ever had to make a decision on and then watch.  It was the best thing for little Buster Jnr, but at the same time my heart wished for a miracle.  I know the times that T has had to tell me about cats that have been PTS such as Grace and my beautiful Cringle, and while I have been upset, it is nothing to how I would have felt having been there. I now understand the strength it must take - I was in bits at the vets.

Anyway - this thread is all about the handsome and brave Garcia Junior.  Keep fighting little man. Mr Garcia sends you all his strength and courage from the bridge.

Thinking of you tonight little man - keep breathing strong.

Cxx
